Here's something that surprises most families: two children with the same diagnosis can need completely different trikes.

Cerebral palsy alone presents in dozens of different ways. Low tone, high tone, asymmetry, mixed patterns, each changes what the rider needs.

Today is World Bicycle Day!
And this year's theme is Cycling for a Greener Future.

It's a theme we believe in completely. Cycling is one of the most powerful, simple, joyful things a person can do. For health. For freedom. For the planet.

But here's what we think about today:

A greener future only means something if it's a future that includes everyone.

For disabled children, cycling isn't automatically accessible. Standard bikes ask for skills that not every body can deliver. And without the right equipment, the joy that every other child takes for granted stays just out of reach.

Tomcat exists because of that gap. We've spent nearly three decades building trikes for children who couldn't find the right fit anywhere else. Because cycling, the freedom, the confidence, the fresh air, is something every child deserves.

Today, on World Bicycle Day, that's what we're celebrating.
Not just cycling. Cycling for all.

If your child has tried and tried to ride a standard bike without success, this one's for you.

It's rarely about effort. And it's almost never about not trying hard enough.

For many children, especially those with conditions affecting balance, coordination, muscle tone, or sensory processing, a two-wheeled bike asks for skills the body simply can't deliver yet.

Balance, posture control, coordination, spatial awareness and consistent pedalling power all have to happen at once. When one part of the system isn't fully supported, the whole experience breaks down.

What looks like 'giving up' is often a child doing everything they can with equipment that wasn't designed for how they move.

The good news? There are trikes built specifically around how your child moves. Not a workaround, a cycle designed from the ground up for them.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, the theme is Action.

For our riders, that action looks like getting outside, feeling the fresh air, and doing something that's just for them. Research shows that regular cycling can reduce anxiety and boost mood, but we see it every day in the smiles at the end of a ride.

If you're looking for one thing to do for your mental health this week, getting outside on two (or three) wheels is a pretty good place to start.
