❤️Looking Beyond The Machine Made Us Look At Ourselves.
Like many other businesses, we have a huge amount of respect for Ermin Plant Hire and Smiths Gloucester Ltd. The time they give is never about raising their own profile. It is about using their profile to raise awareness of communities and organisations like Bettridge School in Cheltenham. The focus remains exactly where it should be, on the young people.

Hands up...initially the JCB caught our attention. But their post worked. Our attention quickly shifted to the young people around it and made us take a moment to find out more about Bettridge School.

We discovered a school supporting young people with severe and profound learning difficulties, and the love, care and commitment that clearly surrounds those young people. Preparing for adulthood, developing independence and building confidence sit alongside education, with experiences involving employers and the wider community playing an important part in that journey.

And if we are being self-reflective, there is some discomfort in admitting that we could be doing more. Are we giving enough of our time to understand and support the communities around us? The honest answer is no. We need to listen more, learn more and gain a better understanding of where our time could genuinely help.

The time Ermin Plant and Smiths have spent with these young people, and countless other organisations and communities, is a reminder of just how valuable that can be. Experiences like this bring learning beyond the classroom to life, creating confidence, curiosity and memories along the way.

They have made us think differently about what doing more can look like. Giving our time, understanding where it can make a difference and being prepared to learn from the communities around us. This post has inspired us. We are going to do more.

A Significant Visit from JCB Deputy Chairman George Bamford and JCB Group Sales Executives.
This week we were honoured to welcome JCB Deputy Chairman George Bamford, Tim Burnhope, JCB Group Managing Director - Sales, Steve Fox, JCB Group Managing Director - Global Major Accounts, and Paul Swallow, JCB UK Sales Director, to our Head Office in Avonmouth.
They met with our Managing Director Andrew Shields and Sales Director Craig Scanlan for focused discussions around the continued development of our partnership with JCB, the performance and growth of our Territory and the opportunities ahead. Supporting the continued success of our Customers, building new relationships and creating opportunities to introduce more businesses across our Territory to the JCB product range were central to the conversation.
Discussions also centred on our increased market share and machine volumes across the JCB range, together with our confidence in the Industries we serve throughout South Wales and South West England.
JCB continues to invest extensively across its UK manufacturing facilities, increasing manufacturing capability while strengthening its global footprint, including the forthcoming opening of its new manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas. Alongside this investment, a significant programme of new product launches throughout 2026 continues to strengthen the JCB machine range. A true celebration of British innovation.
We greatly valued the time George, Tim, Steve and Paul afforded us during their visit. The depth of experience and insight around the table, combined with Andrew and Craig's extensive knowledge of our Territory, its Customers and the extensive Industries we serve, made for an incredibly valuable exchange. Central to those discussions was how we continue to strengthen existing Customer relationships while developing new ones, understanding the opportunities and challenges facing businesses across our territory and ensuring we have the products, expertise and support to help them invest, operate and grow with confidence. There was much to take away from the discussion as we continue to develop our business, grow our Customer base and support the continued growth of the JCB brand across our Territory.
Following the meeting, George, Tim, Steve and Paul toured our Avonmouth Head Office, taking considerable time to meet and speak individually with Colleagues across our departments. Their interest in our people, their roles and their day-to-day interaction with our Customers was particularly valued by our team.
Strong Manufacturer and Dealer relationships are built on a shared understanding of the market, the Customer and the people responsible for supporting them. JCB's continued investment in British manufacturing, new product development and increased global capacity, combined with our continued growth and confidence in our Territory, provides a strong foundation for the opportunities ahead across South Wales and South West England.

Today, the Band of the Coldstream Guards paid tribute to Dolly Parton at Buckingham Palace, celebrating someone whose music became synonymous with working life across generations.

Behind the unmistakable voice and personality was also an extraordinary commitment to giving others opportunity through her generosity.

Hard work, optimism, generosity and never forgetting the people around you. Quite a legacy to leave behind.

A very British salute to the Queen of Country. 🇬🇧

When a professional Training Provider invests in JCB equipment, it means a little more to us. D Evans Plant Training Ltd, based in South Wales, has taken delivery of a new JCB 6T-3 Site Dumper. Dale worked with our Sales Director Craig Scanlan to select the right machine to support their Training provisions.
As a qualified NPORS Training and Testing provider, D Evans Plant Training delivers Training and Testing both at its Hirwaun centre and out on customers’ sites, alongside in-house training options for businesses with their own specific requirements.
For Craig and the wider Holt JCB team, there is particular significance in seeing JCB equipment being used to develop Operator skills and reinforce the standards expected across our Industry.
Safe, competent operation doesn't begin when someone arrives on site. It starts with quality training, experienced instruction, an understanding of the equipment and a strong awareness of individual responsibility around site safety.
Protecting Industry standards and investing in the skills that will carry our Industry forward is critical for us all. Training providers such as Dale and his team, have an important role to play in making that happen.

Another Royal Welsh Show handshake that resulted in a new JCB heading to work in Wales.
We are incredibly proud to support this iconic Welsh event. Beyond showcasing JCB vast machinery range, the Royal Welsh Show gives us valuable time with new and established Customers, understanding their businesses, discussing their requirements and building the relationships that are so important to the way we work at Holt JCB.
Abergavenny based DC Thomas & Son visited our stand this year, where Dale spent time with our South Wales Sales Manager, Lyndon Roberts, discussing his application and what he required from his next machine.

The investment continues for Rocket Rentals, with another 12 JCB excavators joining their expanding Hire Fleet with 6 JCB 90Z-2 midi excavators and 6 JCB 25Z-1 mini excavators.

Managing Director Simon Tomblin consistently invests in highly specified equipment, never compromising on site safety, Operator comfort, productivity or reliability.

It’s an approach that reflects the experience of the Rocket Rentals team. Their customers can range from highly experienced Site Manager, Operators, Business owners and Plant Managers working on complex projects to someone hiring a machine for a weekend with limited Operator experince. Whatever their level of experience, every customer deserves good advice, the right equipment and excellent service.

The fully electric JCB Scissor Lift is a cracking choice where compact dimensions, manoeuvrability and zero-emissions operation really matter, giving Eagle Plant customers another versatile option for indoor work, restricted access areas and a wide range of working-at-height applications.

Experience, Specification And Time Well Spent On Site.
Our Territory Sales Manager for Bristol and the surrounding area, James Ball, was on site with Steve Martin, Managing Director of SM Construction , for the installation of the company’s latest JCB 86C-2 MIDI Excavator.

From its Warminster base, Steve Martin Construction has built a highly respected, Industry accredited Groundworks and Construction business, undertaking an impressive range of work including prestigious projects where precision, technical capability and exacting standards are expected.

With Steve’s extensive experience of Operating and owning Construction machinery, the installation was an opportunity for James to focus on the specific specification and features of this particular JCB 86C-2, ensuring the machine is set up to deliver exactly what Steve expects from it across his varied applications.

Time on site with Steve was equally valuable for James. The opportunity to hear the perspective of an experienced Business Owner, Contractor and Operator brings a level of practical insight that complements James’ own JCB product knowledge and helps him understand even more about the customers and applications across his territory.

It’s exactly the approach James is bringing to customers throughout Bristol and the surrounding area, getting on site, understanding individual operations and making sure the right JCB specification is working hard for each customer.
