IMPORTANT UPDATE TO OUR OPENING HOURS

Healthy U Pharmacy: Travel Clinic, Ear Wax Removal, Weight Loss. Woodingdean

From Monday 28 September 2026, our opening hours will be changing at our Woodingdean Store.

Monday to Friday
9:00am – 1:00pm
2:30pm – 6:00pm

Saturday
9:00am – 11:30am

Sunday
Closed

Since taking over Healthy-U Pharmacy Woodingdean earlier this year, we have made a number of changes to improve how the pharmacy operates and how quickly we can prepare prescriptions for our patients.

By streamlining our dispensing processes and workflow, we are now able to dispense the majority of prescriptions on the same day that we receive them, providing there are no stock or prescription-related issues.

Our text messaging system also means patients are being notified as soon as their medication is ready. More patients are now waiting for their notification before coming to the pharmacy, which has significantly reduced unnecessary journeys and the number of telephone calls asking whether prescriptions are ready.

You can also keep track of your prescriptions through the Healthy-U Pharmacy app.
Our app is available to download from both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Patients can securely log in using their NHS login and receive updates showing when we have received their prescription, when it has been dispensed and when it is ready for collection.

This is another way we are trying to make managing prescriptions easier and more convenient, without patients having to telephone or make an unnecessary journey to the pharmacy.

There is more to come.
Over the coming weeks, we will also be relaunching our Healthy-U Pharmacy website. The new website will bring together the range of NHS and private healthcare services available through Healthy-U Pharmacy, with patients able to find out more about our services and book appointments online or through our app where available.

These improvements have also changed how and when patients need to use the pharmacy. In particular, we have seen a significant reduction in the number of patients visiting us on Saturdays.

We have therefore reviewed our opening hours and, from 28 September, will be reverting to our NHS core opening hours.

The additional opening hours we have been operating are not funded through our NHS contractual hours, and continuing to operate additional hours where there is limited patient demand is not financially sustainable.

There is nothing to worry about. Healthy-U Pharmacy Woodingdean is not closing.
This is a sensible business decision to help ensure that your local pharmacy remains financially sustainable and continues serving the Woodingdean community for the long term.
We regularly hear about community pharmacies across the country having to close their doors completely, leaving the communities they serve without a local pharmacy. We want to make responsible decisions now to help protect the future of Healthy-U Pharmacy Woodingdean and the services we provide.

We will continue investing in the pharmacy, improving our systems and expanding the NHS and private healthcare services available to our patients.

A new community defibrillator for Woodingdean ❤️

We’re pleased to share that a new publicly accessible defibrillator has now been installed outside Healthy-U Pharmacy, Cowley Drive, Woodingdean, working with Brighton & Hove City Council.

When we looked at the local defibrillator coverage, there was a clear gap around this part of Woodingdean. There are several defibrillators elsewhere in the surrounding area, but very limited coverage around Cowley Drive and this side of Woodingdean.

The nearest existing defibrillator was over a mile and a half away. In a cardiac emergency, when every minute matters, we felt our community needed something closer.

Healthy-U Pharmacy will be covering the ongoing operational costs of the defibrillator so that it remains available for the local community.

The cabinet is accessible 24 hours a day. In an emergency: Call 999.

The emergency services will provide the access code for the cabinet and guide you through what to do. Instructions are also clearly displayed on the box.

Community pharmacy is about much more than dispensing medicines. We’ve always been proud of the role Healthy U Pharmacy: Travel Clinic, Ear Wax Removal, Weight Loss. plays in supporting the communities of Saltdean and Rottingdean, and following our expansion into Woodingdean, we want to bring that same commitment to Woodingdean and Ovingdean.

Hopefully this defibrillator will never be needed. But if it is, it is now there for our community when every minute counts.

Healthy-U Pharmacy is pleased to be offering the NHS MenB Vaccination Service at both of our pharmacies:

You may be eligible if you are:
✅ In Year 13 (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008)
OR
✅ Born on or after 21 July 2001 and starting university for the first time in Autumn 2026

✅ Born on or after 21 July 2001 and starting a residential Further Education (FE) college for the first time in Autumn 2026.

🦠 MENINGITIS B (MenB) VACCINATIONS COMING TO HEALTHY-U PHARMACY 🦠

Healthy-U Pharmacy is pleased to announce that we will be offering the new NHS MenB Vaccination Service from 20th July 2026 at both our:

📍 Saltdean Branch
📍 Woodingdean Branch

This NHS vaccination programme aims to help protect young people against Meningococcal B disease, a serious bacterial infection that can cause meningitis and sepsis.

✅ WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

You may be eligible if you:

• Are aged 17 or 18 years old (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008); or
• Are due to start university in Autumn 2026 and are under 25 years old; or
• Are due to enter eligible residential further education accommodation for the first time in Autumn 2026 and are under 25 years old.

The vaccine course consists of 2 doses, given at least 28 days apart.

📅 IMPORTANT

Appointments will be booked through the NHS National Booking Service (NBS) and not directly through the pharmacy.

We will share further information and booking details as soon as the National Booking Service opens appointments.

👨‍🎓 If you are heading to university, college, or residential further education this autumn, vaccination before the start of term is strongly recommended.
