Over 30 years ago, this business started with a desk in the family dining room and an idea.……a thought of a less corporate life, and building something for the future of a family. 🛠️💼
Back in 1992, Ron Backhouse made a massive leap. He resigned from a secure Managing Director’s job in Architectural Ironmongery, an industry he had worked his way up in since the age of 17. He traded the peak of that corporate ladder for a shared desk with his son at home, driven by the goal of creating a steady, family-first future.
The business outgrew the dining table. They hired their team members and finally transitioned into growing commercial workspace, bringing on extended family members as well as honorary family to keep things growing.
Over the years, our team honed its technical expertise by working directly on projects with commercial developers.
Following Ron’s retirement, the family has changed with the times. We took those years of industry experience and brought them online offering our full range to an extended audience across the country via our website, Ironmongery Experts! 🖥️📦
Today, we run operations from our Essex based unit & showroom with a brilliant, multi-generational team keeping the gears turning every single day.
Growing from that dining room table into a 30+ year business took plenty of grit and determination. With respect for that hard work which brought us here, we don’t take a single day of it for granted.
