Celebrating the impact of volunteering ⚡️ 👏

As part of Volunteers' Week 2026, we're recognising the positive difference volunteering can make to local communities and organisations.

Over the past few months, team members from across our group have been volunteering at the RSPCA Danaher Animal Home, helping with gardening, painting, clearing out barns and improving outdoor spaces, including the rabbit enclosure.

We're proud to support organisations like Danaher that do such valuable work, and we'd like to thank everyone who gives their time to help others.

Grid connection requirements have changed. Is your project ready? ⚡

From 1 June 2026, new Energy Networks Association (ENA) guidance means demand applications of 5 MVA and above must demonstrate real project maturity before entering the DNO queue.

From today, applications will need to include:
➡️ A signed Letter of Authority
➡️ Heads of Terms
➡️ A Single Line Diagram (SLD)
➡️ A preliminary project timeline showing delivery milestones

Less early-stage guesswork, more ready-to-go projects.

At eSmart Networks, we're helping developers and consultants get ahead of these changes and ensure applications are set up for success from day one.

UKREiiF 2026, it was good to be back 🤝

A busy week of conversations on the ground and a panel session that got into the real detail: grid connections and what it actually takes to move projects forward.

Talking to clients across the event, one theme came up consistently: power constraints are front of mind. It is shaping how projects are being scoped, sequenced and in some cases reconsidered entirely. Not a niche concern anymore.

A few things that came through clearly:

Grid constraints are already shaping decisions, not something on the horizon
Better data helps, but only when it's shared and genuinely usable
Progress depends on developers, networks and local authorities working together, not in parallel

No shortage of honest discussion about where the gaps are and what needs to change.

Final day at UKREiiF 2026 ✅

A great few days in Leeds for the eSmart Networks team, with plenty of honest conversations about what’s really holding projects back.

The takeaway is clear. Power availability remains a key risk, whether due to grid constraints, long lead times or uncertain connection timelines.

We’ve had some strong discussions with developers, contractors and consultants on how to keep schemes moving despite these challenges, from early planning through to delivering power on complex sites.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to connect. If we didn’t get chance to speak, or you’ve got a project needing a clear route to power, feel free to reach out.
