The new milling machine lives! I’ve done a bit of test milling and it’s all looking quite good! Next week hopefully i’ll be ordering some steel so i can get on with making scrapers again, and i’ve got a force feedback brake pedal to mill a a few plates for.

So the spindle motor driver for this milling machine is mounted in the head right next to the brushed motor. Thankfully carbon is notoriously non-conductive so being covered in dust from the brushes wont do the electrics any harm, but for the sake of convenience i’ve moved the driver into the electrics cabinet that’s now bolted to the stand.

and i have been together for nine years today, and the last one has been by far the most difficult but we got through it together, even when we’ve been stressed and snappy and upset. I’m lucky to have lea by my side because she is so patient, understanding, caring, thoughtful and absolutely gorgeous.
