Saturday we experienced an accidental fire at our family run scrap metal recycling yard . We are pleased to confirm that everyone involved is safe and we are grateful to be open as usual for business.

Our sincere thanks to the fire service and all emergency responders for their outstanding work and support in bringing the situation under control.

To our neighbours and local community, we are truly sorry for the disruption and concern caused.
We are devastated that this has happened again.

Incidents like this are becoming more common in the recycling industry. Non permitted Lithium-ion/ Nicad batteries are everywhere small and concealed in vapes phones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes the list goes on and when they end up in waste piles it can quickly turn an ordinary day into a serious incident.

Thanks to West Sussex fire and rescue, The Edwards family, Our first responders who saved our plant machines and everyone who has shown concern over the weekend ♻️💚

🔋NON PERMITTED BATTERIES 🔋

As you can see we still get a lot of lithium/ nicad batteries entering our waste piles.

HOWEVER

We have noticed a huge improvement with vapes, and emergency lighting battery packs.

Please continue to:
• Keep batteries separate from scrap and general waste
• Dispose of them through the correct recycling channels
• Let us know if you’re unsure about any items in your load

We appreciate everyone working with us to keep the site safe for all. Thank you for your continued support. 👏

(The only batteries we accept are LEAD ACID filled and these get weighed in our non ferrous shed separately)
