The new EV Chains distribution area at Progress Engineering is coming along nicely and we're now ready to support customers from our expanding network.

As part of our continued investment in stockholding and customer service, the new EV Chains Cornwall location will strengthen regional availability and collection capability for the EV Chains product range, providing improved access for customers across the heavy lifting, materials handling, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

Customers will have access to a comprehensive range of industrial leaf chains, roller chains, conveyor chains and associated power transmission products, supported by strong stock availability, fast turnaround times and responsive technical support.

For us, this is about more than simply adding warehouse space. It is about bringing stock closer to customers, reducing lead times and creating a stronger regional presence to support businesses that rely on dependable supply and service.

Our Cornwall facility represents another step in the growth of EV Chains as we continue to expand our distribution capability and strengthen support for customers throughout the UK.

At Progress Engineering Limited we are currently machining a particularly complex stainless-steel shaft on one of our borers.

The component combines precision milling, drilling and turning operations, together with a substantial 200mm thread, all within a single part. Projects like this highlight the level of capability required when large-scale machining meets tight tolerances and demanding material requirements.

It is always satisfying seeing these types of components progress through the machine shop. Stainless has a habit of reminding engineers who is really in charge if you stop paying attention for five minutes. Humanity invented advanced CNC machinery only to spend half its life persuading metal not to distort out of spite.

Bringing all stages together under one roof allows us to maintain quality, control lead times, and deliver fully completed solutions rather than individual processes.

Another mixer project wrapped up and ready for shipment. This one was delivered as a complete turnkey package by Progress Engineering including:

▪️ Pre-machining
▪️ Fabrication
▪️ Post-machining
▪️ Internal finishing
▪️ Glass bead blasting
▪️ Full assembly
▪️ On-site testing and inspection

All completed and signed off ready for delivery to the customer.

A key highlight of the project was the internal trough, which was bored post-fabrication to ensure concentricity throughout the assembly. This allowed us to achieve a consistent clearance between the trough and the mixing paddles, critical for both performance and reliability in operation.

Projects like this are a good example of the advantage of combining fabrication, machining, finishing, and assembly capability under one roof. Less outsourcing, tighter control, better outcomes.

Another week, another build. Because standing still isn’t really our thing!

A completed frame ready and being kitted out to receive the machine it mates with: Built with precision, aligned for performance, and prepared for seamless integration on-site.

At Progress Engineering, it’s never just about fabrication. It’s about delivering assemblies that fit first time, that reduce installation headaches, and actually do what they’re supposed to do which, surprisingly, still feels like a competitive advantage these days.

Engineered to spec. Built to last. Ready to work.
