Ever wondered how an impact socket is actually made? 🔩

Here’s one of the machining stages in action producing the drive end that’ll eventually take the square drive from the impact wrench.

It might look like a straightforward operation, but getting the drive accurately machined is critical. This is where the torque from the tool is transferred into the socket, so dimensions, alignment and fit all matter.

Plenty of swarf, plenty of coolant and some proper machining going on ⚙️

WE DO LIKE A CHALLENGE… 👀🔧

It started with a customer email, a quick sketch and one simple question:

“Would this be possible?”

They needed to tighten a 60mm AF locknut in a confined space to 1050Nm but the tool they needed simply didn’t exist off the shelf.

The brief was specific: ¾” square drive, 200mm centre-to-centre, an open six-point profile and a 45mm opening.

So, our team got to work.

From the customer’s initial sketch, we engineered the solution and manufactured the finished bespoke tool right here at DELTEC.

One problem. One purpose-built solution…🇬🇧

When you need an odd size spanner, Deltec deliver…🔧

There’s something satisfying about watching a tool take shape from solid material…⚙️

A bespoke 1 9/16” combination spanner, CNC machined with controlled toolpaths to produce the open-ended jaw, bi-hex ring profile and finished geometry.

From material removal and pocketing through to the final profiling passes, every operation is about maintaining dimensional accuracy, repeatability and a clean machined finish.

No off-the-shelf solution. Just precision machining built around the application…🇬🇧

What’s Gary Neville got to do with a tool being made at DELTEC? 👀🏗️

Kev popped into the factory for a specialist tool and ended up giving us a proper bit of construction talk 🏗️

Using one of Manchester’s major developments as the example, he explains how the core goes up first, how the floors follow and how the concrete boom works its way up through the building as construction progresses.

Ever wondered how skyscrapers get their concrete to the top? 🤯🏗️

Kev popped into DELTEC with a challenge for us to manufacture a specialist tool used on these incredible 32m self-climbing concrete placing booms.

Once fixed to the building, they climb floor by floor as the structure rises before being dismantled and moved to the next site.

Engineering at its best.

A slack fit is no good when pushing thousands of Nm of torque, anyone else seen this as a result of the drive end being a bit slack?!

A new customer ‘Kev’ popped in from Manchester yesterday with a challenge for the Deltec engineers and while with us we were looking at some of the sockets he’d been having to use.

Needless to say we’re going to sort it for him and make sure he’s got the right tools for the job!
