From steel bar to crowfoot spanner, it all starts here 🔩⚙️

Before the CNC machines get involved, we've got a bit of cutting to do!

We're sawing steel bar into individual blanks, ready for the next stage of machining where they'll eventually become our crowfoot spanners 🔧

Nothing fancy, just good old-fashioned metal cutting and another busy day on the DELTEC shop floor 🇬🇧

Pretty cool job this one and Tay is cracking on so we grabbed Chris for a quick word and he tells us they use something similar in “Incredible metal munching machines” the legend 🚗🤖

Before we make it…We have to engineer it…✍🏽📐

Before the steel hits the machines, the job has to work on screen so Tay talks us through the design stage of a bespoke 3½" drive adaptor, built around the specific dimensions and requirements supplied by the customer.

Customer requirement ➡️ CAD drawing ➡️ manufacture.

That’s what bespoke engineering looks like at DELTEC…🇬🇧🔧

A PROBLEM IN NORWAY | A SOLUTION MADE AT DELTEC 🇬🇧🇳🇴

A customer in Norway needed something that didn’t exist off the shelf, a bespoke 3½” female to 3½” male square-drive adapter, manufactured to fit precisely between two existing components.

And when the fit has to be right, millimetres matter.

📐 DELTEC engineered the solution
🖥️ We produced the CAD model
🖨️ The customer 3D printed a full-size prototype
🔧 They carried out a real-world dry fit in Norway
✏️ One critical dimension was refined
⚙️ Then we machined the real thing here at DELTEC

The result? A 296mm-long, one-off engineered adapter, including a 90mm-deep 3½” female drive, manufactured specifically for the customer’s application and now destined for Norway…🇳🇴

From an idea, to a prototype, to a serious lump of metal.

Made here in Britain. Made by DELTEC…🇬🇧

It’s all in the finishing touches… 🔧⚙️

Junior takes us through the de-burring process, removing the sharp edges and burrs left behind after machining to give each socket a cleaner, safer finish before it moves on to the next stage…💫

It might only be one part of the process…but when you’re manufacturing tooling properly, every stage matters…💯

It all starts with a billet…👀⚙️

What starts out as a simple piece of raw material can look very different once our machines have finished with it.

Tay takes us from the billets ➡️ to the machined components, with around 200 of them going through the process.
