Correct setup at this stage is key for tight-tolerance work - keeping material feeding cleanly, batches consistent and avoiding issues once machining starts.

Bank holiday blues don't last long when you come back to 24 Star Sliding Head lathes keeping the shop floor busy. 🤩

Having this level of capacity means we can keep multiple machining jobs running side by side, which helps reduce delays and keeps subcontract orders moving through production at a steady pace. Our largest sliding head machines can handle parts ranging from 3mm up to 38mm in size, giving us the flexibility to take on a wide range of turned components.

Quality is not something we leave until the end.

Each turned component is checked against drawing requirements throughout production, using CMM inspection, Renishaw probing and Tesa Scan 50 profile measurement equipment, all supported by ISO 9001 processes and structured inspection routines.

Rather than relying on a final check, quality is built into each stage of manufacture. That helps keep consistency across batches and gives customers confidence that parts arrive accurate and ready to use. 🙌

Fine-tuning the SB-20R Type G to get the perfect turn.

These adjustments might be small, but they do make a difference to how parts come off the machine. They help get tool position, feed rates and timings working together properly once you are in real cutting conditions.

It also helps keep an eye on things like tool wear or slight changes in material, so the process stays steady across the whole batch rather than drifting as the job runs on. That’s what keeps parts consistent, improves repeatability from first to last, and keeps things predictable in production.

A bit of time spent here makes life easier later and cuts down on rework.

We run jobs side-by-side across eight fixed-head lathes, keeping work moving and turning orders around quickly.

Our largest machines can handle parts up to 65mm diameter on bar and 250mm on billet, and we also hold stock for repeat and replacement parts!
