A Urostomy is a type of urinary diversion which involves disconnecting the ureters from the bladder and attaching them into a short length of small bowel.

From a dinner filled with smiles and a mind-blowing magician who made the evening unforgettable, to the inspiring speakers who shared their powerful stories throughout the day, the Salts Collective: Spring Edition was an event to remember.

It’s International Nurses Day and we want to celebrate the amazing contribution of Stoma Care Nurses.🧑‍⚕️

Our advocates have shared their messages to Stoma Care Nurses and in return, we are contributing to a charity close to the hearts of our Salts Nurse Team – Chameleon Buddies

Chameleon Buddies was founded in 2022 by Gill Castle; Gill has a permanent stoma following complications in childbirth. The charity provides hope for people living with life changing injuries in the UK and Kenya, following childbirth.

Did you know that over 500,000 people in United Kingdom are affected by IBD?

That’s 1 in every 123 people, with symptoms ranging from mild to severe. This can include diarrhoea, abdominal pain and fatigue, often impacting their daily lives and mental health.

1 in 4 newly diagnosed are under 16, and it is now estimated that over 7 million people throughout the world live with IBD, according to a 2024 IBD UK Report: The Sate of IBD Care in the UK.

There are plenty of resources to help those with IBD:

Crohn’s & Colitis UK - Provides specialised help and support for residents in the UK, including information on disability benefits and rights, as well as a symptom checker.

IBD Services Map - An interactive map to find your local hospital's IBD team and contact details.
