A poorly DeWalt DW708-LX mitre saw came into Fixatool for a doctors appointment, a £900 tool, so well worth fixing.

A triage session soon deduced the electrical motors front bearing had seized solid. A new genuine SKF bearing was ordered, full strip down to the armature, whole job turned around in 3 days from delivery.

A brilliant feature by Oakie Woodsman in relation to why chainsaw fuel can sometimes fizz up like lemonade on hot days.

Reid Vapour Pressure (RVP) if too high in winter fuel blends, will fizz up if it gets too hot in the summer.

I generally reccomend premium E5 high octane fuels to all my customers, so:

Shell VPower E5
BP Ultimate E5
Tesco99 E5

Avoid the cheap E10 fuels like the plague, as the high Ethanol content rots in 6 weeks, they attract water and demolish the rubber seals, nasty stuff.

Its the season for ressurecting knackered Paslode nail guns at Fixatool

I was on holiday in Greece, took a panic call from a roofer while on my sun bed. He was putting a roof on a house this Monday and both his 1st hit IM350 Pasolde nailguns had completley failed.

I flew home yesterday at 5am Friday morning, both Paslodes were delivered at 1pm, then both nail guns were repaired and serviced, ready to collect at 6pm Friday afternoon, as promised.

Low cost & low risk, high performance upgrade to make your MS500i cut 20-30% faster with hardly any bogging down, from Fixatool, based Billericay Essex.

I can do a major porting and de-baffle job on the standard MS500i exhaust back housing & front cover for £120 each. The saw will cut drastically quicker afterwards. This is well over and above any front plate type widget that you bolt on, as I heavily re-work the rear of the exhaust housing too. The end results are shockingly good.

Then.....For a circa 15-20% compression ratio increase kit (2 parts) it will then cut a lot quicker again and complements the above, basically a far cheaper way of instead having 30 or 40 thou cut off the base of the cylinder in a lathe.... This is another £120 and is a major performance upgrade.

All very low risk and low cost performance modifications that give a substantial power increase to a Stihl MS500i making it cut 20-30% faster and hardly any bogging down, crucially 60-80% cheaper than a traditional porting job.

NOTE: I do not remove or modify your cylinder barrel, keeping the durability risk very low.

Same logic can also be applied to other medium & large capacity saws, happy to discuss your requirements.
