This Diesel Honda Civic came in to us recently for a performance remap, and it’s a great example of how much difference the right software can make.
The car arrived with factory figures of **120 BHP and 300 Nm**, and after the remap the expected figures are:
**Power: 120 to 165 BHP (+45 BHP)**
**Torque: 300 to 380 Nm (+80 Nm)**
For this remap, we used the **Autotuner tool**, allowing us to safely read and write the ECU data before applying calibrated software tailored to the vehicle. It’s a clean and reliable way to carry out tuning work, whether the aim is stronger performance, improved response, or a more refined drive.
A lot of people still associate remapping mainly with petrol performance cars, but diesel tuning can be just as effective, and in many cases even more noticeable in everyday driving. Modern diesel engines respond especially well to carefully developed software because of the way they produce torque. A quality diesel remap can give stronger mid-range pull, better throttle response, improved overtaking ability, and a more relaxed feel on the motorway.
Diesel tuning can also help with economy when driven sensibly. With more torque available lower down the rev range, the engine often does not need to work as hard to maintain speed or pull through the gears. That can mean smoother progress, fewer gear changes, and improved fuel efficiency in normal driving conditions.
Whether it’s a diesel daily, a petrol hot hatch, a van, a 4x4, or something more performance focused, the goal is always the same: safe, usable gains that suit the vehicle and the way it’s driven.
This Civic is a great reminder that you don’t always need big hardware changes to transform how a car feels. With the right tools, the right calibration, and proper experience behind the work, a remap can make a real difference.
