2021 has flown by, and I realise I haven't put pen to paper since last Christmas! That is not to say we haven't been here and done anything, in fact the opposite is true but I just haven't had a moment to gather my thoughts. Makes it a fairly straightforward post though - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all our friends and customers worldwide :-)
Here, by way of a few random images, is Autosportif Engineering's 2021 - from engines and gearboxes of various types (but mainly Subaru of course) to some of the cars that have graced us with their presence...

Just one last thing before we all finish for Santa's visit, all of us here would like to wish each and every one of our page visitors/customers/friends a safe and Merry Christmas - wherever you are able to spend it - and with a little luck next year will be better.
In the meantime, stay safe and don't forget your mask.

I didn't suggest that the previous 'catch up' pictures were all we had done since April, but having sorted through some more pictures I realise I can post a few more!

Having received a little sarcasm from both Mark Halleybone at Stable Fabrications, and Nick Boucher, I just wanted to put the record straight - here is your new engine Mark, and spot the new throttle body Nick.
That's another one off my list.

Of course we don't only rebuild engines - there are transmissions too, so here's a selection of those that have been through the door since April.

We all know it's been a strange year, and nothing is quite how it was; furthermore, quite possibly will never be quite how it was, but I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all our friends and clients around the globe for their continued custom. I am guilty of not updating our page for the last few months, and consequently am way behind in the 'what we've been up to' department! Anyway, here I am to put that right before 2020 fizzles out...

There have been engines various, here are a few!

I know we generally only get involved with the Subaru brand, but every now and then something a little different comes along - as a result one of our clients has asked us to help find a new home for one of his collection; please read on for more information.
The car in question is a Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo Gp4 - in fact this is one of only three left in the world; there is one in the Mitsubishi Motors museum and one in the late Andrew Cowan's personal collection, and this one!
The factory cars were built in Austria by Denzel, and then Ralliart were established to run the team; Andrew Cowan being chosen to lead the effort. The car was a significant step forward, not only did it have electronic fuel injection, it was the first to run an ecu in the world rally championship. The 1997cc turbo engine produced in excess of 300bhp, plus it was equipped with a dog gearbox, an intercooler, a paddle clutch, vented discs, rose joints etc - and this was all bolted into a specially built (acid dipped) bodyshell with lightweight doors and wide arches.
The car was launched at the 1981 Acropolis Rally, and subsequent performances through' 81 gave great hope for success in '82 - this particular car was built in '81 for the '82 season (ch.no. A176AABU401096) and carried the Austrian reg St944.192 before being registered GJI 9826 in Northern Ireland (in 1983) for type approval reasons.
It's best finish was 3rd on the 1982 1000 Lakes Rally with Pentti Arikkala, followed by a 7th place in San Remo with Anders Kullang at the wheel - but was also driven by Andrew Cowan himself along with Harri Toivonen and Antero Laine. In fact Harri Toivonen was the last to drive it for the factory team on the 1000 Lakes Rally in 1983.
In 1985 the car was completely rebuilt by Ralliart themselves, and has remained unused for competition purposes ever since - in 2012 the underside was restored by Stohl Racing, but all the remains as left by Ralliart.
In short this represents a great way to enter the world of historic rally cars - it's very rare, it's in wonderful 'factory original' condition, and it is useable - plus it comes with all the paperwork you would expect and spares to suit.
Full specification and price are available by request, but please appreciate this car's rarity and provenance - all enquiries to [email protected]

As we have been re-liverying this week, it seemed stupid not to share the details! Not satisfied with a little SGM Racepaint love on S200WRT, we also turned MC54WRC round for its new owner; this had an SGM freshen up too, following a Prodrive sign off to prove everything was working as it should be. Then our old friend 'Sticky' Dave Campbell paid us a visit to complete the transformation - S200 back to the Makinen 2003 Rally GB livery and MC54 to the 2005 Rally Argentina livery.
I reckon they both look great, and the respective owners think so too, which makes all the effort worthwhile!

All change in the workshop this week - we've gone all modern! It seems that our usual crop of GpA and 2 door cars have been ousted by much newer vehicles; gracing Rob Swann's purposeful S12b Impreza (KT07SRT) we now have the last Prodrive built Subaru to win a WRC round (excluding Rally GB and the inherited victory) - S11 Impreza WRC AC54WRC - Petter Solberg's Corona Rally Mexico car, in for some pre-restoration appraisal. This will mainly require converting back to lhd as it has been well looked after, and refinishing in the original livery of course. The other car alongside is a rather special S9 Impreza, S200SRT, which was the very last car multiple world rally champion Tommi Makinen drove before his retirement in 2003. Those who remember Rally GB from that year will recall his gold boots and the bonnet livery! Again, this is a well maintained car, but we are going to return it to the spec of that important rally appearance for it's new owner.

It's that time of year again! Only seems like a few weeks have passed since Christmas was here last time...
Anyway, I would like to thank all our customers for their continued support - have a great Christmas and here's to a successful New Year.
These last few pictures of the year show we have been engaged with the usual, and the not so usual!
Next year will see some new projects as we start on the GpA Legacy (K555SRT) and move ahead with a couple of WRC cars and another GpA Impreza...

Surprise news item today! A parcel arrived from our good friends in Tenerife which has made our day; Felix Brito and his team at Evolucion Car have had two models made of their fabulous S12 WRC Impreza (ex Atkinson, CT06SRT), and one of them was for us here at Autosportif Engineering. It is in the livery of Felix's winning run at the Subida Palo Blanco earlier this year.
We send huge thanks to the whole team at Evolucion Car, and wish them all the best of luck with their beautiful car 😍
The model will be proudly displayed in our model cabinet.
