Getting ready for the winter months ahead ❄️

Ltd have just added to their fleet with a Renault Trucks D Wide 18T mini bulker and two Renault Trucks Master Van drop sides!

The mini bulker will be working out of their Bathgate depot with the vans in Kilmarnock & St Boswells.

They look great and we look forward to seeing them out on the road, however lets keep that cold weather at bay a little longer!

Today, we were delighted to visit The Cress Company to demonstrate the Renault Trucks E-Tech T Range and give the team the opportunity to experience our electric HGV technology first-hand. 🚛🔋

⚡ World EV Day 2026 | Taking the first step towards a greener future

We recently visited Auchinlea Tyres and caught up with Donna to hear about their experience with their Renault Trucks Trafic E-Tech Van.🔋⚡

For Auchinlea Tyres, making the move to electric was part of a wider ambition to become more eco-friendly, and it’s clear that this is just the beginning.

The journey to finding the right vehicle was a real collaboration between Donna and Karen - Renault Trucks Scotland LCV Sales Executive, taking the time to understand what Auchinlea Tyres needed from a van and finding the right fit for their business.

Donna described the Trafic E-Tech as a “dream to drive”, with the power being something that has really impressed them. They’re currently using it as a pool van, meaning it’s regularly out visiting customers, and it’s certainly getting noticed!

👀 The striking branding really stands out on the road, with the wrap designed and fitted by CubeWraps - Commercial Vehicle Branding Specialists and customers have already been commenting on how good it looks.

But it’s not just about looks. After just one month, Auchinlea Tyres have already noticed a saving on their fuel costs from having their first EV van in the fleet.

As part of their commitment to a greener future, they’re also investing in new fast-charging infrastructure on site, with the hope that this Renault Trucks Trafic E-Tech is the first step towards a more diverse and sustainable fleet.

It was fantastic to hear such positive feedback and see first-hand how businesses are taking practical steps towards electrification. 🌱

5 myths about electric trucks and why it's time to leave them behind. ⚡

We hear a lot of hesitation around electric trucks. So let's set the record straight.

❌ Myth #1 'The grid isn't ready for electric vehicles'

If 75% of Europe's fleet goes electric by 2040, the additional electricity demand would only require a 0.9% annual increase in production between now and then. The infrastructure can and will keep pace.

❌ Myth #2 'Electric vehicles are much more expensive than combustion vehicles'

Electric trucks are now heading towards TCO parity with diesel. Add in the benefits of zero emissions, lower noise, increased flexibility, and enhanced driver comfort, and the case only gets stronger.

❌ Myth #3 'Electric trucks do not have sufficient range to meet the needs of operators'

Range is largely within the driver's control. Preconditioning the cab while still plugged in, adopting smooth driving habits and correct tyre pressure all make a measurable difference. Most drivers find that it becomes second nature very quickly.

❌ Myth #4 'It's complicated to charge an electric vehicle'

It really isn't. An industrial three-phase socket at 22kW/40W is all you need. Charge overnight at the depot and the truck is ready to go at the start of every shift.

❌ Myth #5 'Electric truck batteries just end up in landfill'

Every battery is engineered for multiple lives - first powering your fleet, then repurposed into renewable energy storage and grid balancing when capacity still reaches up to 80%, and finally recycled so the materials that went in can go round again.

A big step forward for electric waste collection in Scotland. ⚡🚛

We’re proud to see A&M Smith Recycling putting Scotland’s first Renault Trucks electric skip loader into daily operation around Aberdeen.

The Renault Trucks E-Tech D Wide is already proving that electric HGVs can work in real-world waste and recycling operations, from local skip collections to residential, commercial and industrial work.

What makes this particularly exciting is the wider approach A&M Smith is taking. Alongside the electric truck, the business is investing in charging infrastructure and exploring renewable energy generation and battery storage to support its long-term electrification strategy.
