A lasting tribute to a lifetime of love ❀️

This beautiful bespoke memorial bench, created in loving memory of Frederick and Valerie Parsons, was completed here at GD Steelworks and shipped over to England last week.

Designed especially to celebrate their lives and the things they loved, the backrest features personal details and meaningful tributes β€” creating a truly unique place to sit, reflect and remember.

From the cricket inspired details to the ball of wool, knitting needles & rolling pin with the personal inscription, every element was carefully designed to make this bench completely personal to Frederick and Valerie.

A memorial bench is more than just a seat. It becomes a place where memories can be shared, stories remembered and loved ones can feel close again. ❀️

Thank you to the family for trusting us to create such a special tribute.

We love seeing young local talent getting the recognition they deserve!

A massive well done to 15-year-old Keira Calderwood, a friend of my daughter, who has created this incredible remembrance mural in Springmartin, Belfast. ❀️

At just 15 years old, Keira has shown amazing talent, dedication and respect in creating such a beautiful tribute to those who served and sacrificed.

It's fantastic to see a young girl from the Shankill Road using her talent to give something so meaningful back to her community. πŸ‘

Keira, you should be incredibly proud of yourself! We can't wait to see what the future holds for you. Keep doing what you're doing! ❀️

WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Give Keira's TikTok a follow to see how she brought this amazing mural to life! πŸ‘‡

In Loving Memory ❀️

Last week we shipped another memorial bench, this time to a family in England, in loving memory of Hayley Derbyshire.

Each piece we craft carries more than steel β€” it carries stories, memories, and love that families want to hold onto forever. Hayley's bench features a beautiful portrait, a gentle butterfly, and words that speak to just how deeply she is missed: "Our beautiful girl, forever in our hearts."

At GD Steelworks, we're honoured every time a family trusts us to help them create something lasting β€” a place where memories can sit a while.

Rest in peace, Hayley. πŸ–€

Bespoke steel handrails, fabricated in-house at GD Steelworks β€” heading to a listed building for the Salvation Army in Newry next week.

Working on listed structures means every fixing, finish and line has to respect the character of the original building while still meeting current safety standards. That balance is where the craft is.
Proud to support the Salvation Army with work that'll be used and seen for decades.

Delighted to see these "Lest We Forget" memorial benches looking spotless again after being targeted in a recent paint bomb attack.

Huge credit to the local residents of Cloughfern who came together to clean them up β€” a real show of community spirit and respect for what these benches represent.

Proud to have made them and even prouder of the people who look after it. Some things deserve to be protected. πŸ–€πŸŒΉ
