We were delighted to present Brendan Sloan with his certificate for 50 years IRTE Membership last Thursday at the IRTE Student Awards evening.

Brendan delivered a truly inspirational talk on his career covering engineering, transport and education right here in Nortnern Ireland. From starting at Kilkeel Technical College in 1966 and beginning as a young apprentice in Harland and Wolff, getting to work alongside George Best and seeing Jackie Kennedy launch a ship, Brendan progressed his career through Gilbert Ash NI, Edgar Lowes and Aircraft Furnishing Ltd whilst continuing his engineering studies to a level that qualified for teaching motor vehicle technology. A chance opportunity to cover a class one evening and a toss of a coin led to Brendan's career progressing into teaching at the Newry Government Training Centre for 13 years, where many students successfully qualified for careers in the motor industry. Today, Brendan and his wife Martina run the beautiful Seaview Guesthouse and Seaview Travel Ltd in Rostrevor.

Congratulations on 50 years Membership Brendan! πŸ‘
