Last week we held a brilliant coffee and cake fundraiser for the Primrose Unit at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Charity.

The Primrose Unit is a dedicated centre for cancer care, supporting thousands of patients and their families every year. 🫶

It provides much more than treatment and offers expert advice, emotional support, wellbeing services, financial guidance and prosthetics support. Everyone can expect personalised care throughout every stage of their cancer journey.

There were some fantastic bakes thanks to our team here at Ceetak Ltd: Sealing Solutions, alongside some prize giveaways to ignite our competitive spirit.

So far we've raised £350 and counting! 💷

We were approached with a requirement for a specialist O-ring for a demanding automotive oil and vacuum pump application⚙️🚘

The challenge went beyond simply finding the right size. The seal needed to meet stringent material and performance requirements, while also working within tight commercial and lead-time constraints.

Our engineering team evaluated the material options, supported testing and development, and worked closely with the customer to take the solution from initial requirement through to pre-production.

The result? A sealing solution that met the application requirements - delivered within the promised lead time ✅

⭕ How big can an O-Ring get?

When most people think of O-Rings, they probably picture something that fits in the palm of their hand. But some applications require sealing solutions on a very different scale.

For large equipment, vessels and assemblies, standard O-Ring sizes simply aren't an option - and producing an effective seal at much larger diameters brings its own manufacturing and application considerations.

⚙️ We can supply continuously moulded large-diameter O-Rings with practically no limitation on internal diameter, providing a solution for applications well beyond conventional standard sizes.

A wide range of cross-sections and elastomer materials are available, allowing both the dimensions and material of the O-Ring to be matched to the individual application and operating environment.

The consultation on the draft SEAC opinion regarding the proposed restriction of PFAS substances in the EU closes at midnight on 25th May 2026.

If you manufacture, supply or use fluoropolymer sealing materials such as FKM, FFKM or PTFE, this is highly relevant to your business.

Ceetak Ltd: Sealing Solutions believes that, in formulating the draft opinion, Sealing Applications (Sector 17) have not yet been assessed in sufficient technical depth. As a result, application-specific considerations regarding alternatives, technical feasibility, costs, benefits and proportionality for critical sealing technologies may not yet be fully represented.

📆This consultation provides an important opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers and end users to submit additional technical and commercial information to help ensure the final SEAC opinion reflects the practical realities and performance requirements of sealing applications across industry.

For many large diameter O-ring applications, traditional manufacturing methods have either required very large (and expensive) dedicated mould tools, or involved producing the seal from extruded cord which is then cut to length and bonded together to create the final ring ⭕

While suitable for many general applications, these spliced O-rings can introduce potential weak points at the glued or vulcanised joint. Particularly in more demanding environments involving vacuum, pressure, large chambers or critical process systems.

Differences in material properties across the joined area can potentially impact long-term sealing reliability, installation consistency and leakage performance in critical applications.
