Happy National Selfie Day! 🤳

Meet Darren Warburton, he is one of our Service Engineers. We are throwing you back to when Darren was onsite in Dammam, Saudi Arabi commissioning and supporting six of our RIC 9000’s. Due to the global pandemic, we have seen travelling bans. But we are looking forward to travelling again very soon.

Here we have our CXL140 with an 11-tonne drop weight driving 28-meter long steel tube piles in Casablanca, Morocco.

There are a variety of drop weight sizes ranging from 4 to 11 tonnes to choose from when building your CX Hammer. We have several tube pile guides to allow you to operate your hammer either crane suspended or operating from an excavator.

Congratulations to Joe Baker who has completed his advanced level apprenticeship in Engineering Manufacture with Suffolk New College

Here is a message from Tony Mallett our Manufacturing Director about how Joe has performed:

“Since Joe has been part of the BSP family we have seen him grow into a valuable member of the team, Joe has spent time learning all aspects of manufacturing spending time in the machine shop, fabrication shop, fitting shop and even the paint shop. Joe has proven himself to be versatile in his skills and ever willing to help and learn.

Now Joe has completed his Apprenticeship I am sure that he will continue to learn and be the adaptable engineer that the BSP team will come to depend upon.”

It's throwback Thursday and we would like to share with you one of the items we have on display in our reception ‘The BSP Pocket Book’.

This was a must-have document in a world before electronic communications became the norm. With industry-specific advice, helpful calculations, and other general information on the art of pile driving. One key piece of information which was included was the ‘Hiley Formula’, used for predicting pile capacity from the driving record. This method was popularised by the BSP Alumni, Alfred Hiley, who was BSP’s Director in the 1920s. Alfred’s name is still associated with pile driving prediction to this day across the industry.

Although the advent of wave-equation computation has made that art more accurate in the electronic age, it is still a handy ‘go-to’ at times.

Here you can see our mighty CGL370 with a 25-tonne drop-weight operating in Malaysia, and what a magnificent piece of equipment this is!

Our CGL is one of the largest piling hammers we manufacture, this particular hammer is configured with back guides for leader use. This is also fitted with a pile sleeve that allows for up to 2-meter diameter piles to be driven.

It is learning at work week, so what a perfect opportunity to showcase our Apprentice Joe!

Joe joined our team in October 2018 as an apprentice engineer, he has worked in a number of our departments such as the machine shop and fabrication workshop. He has now taken on a role in our paint shop, in the time-lapse video below you can see Joe spraying parts for our DX Hydraulic Hammer, what a fantastic job!

Here is a message from Joe:
"During my time at BSP, I have learnt a wide range of skills spanning from mechanical and hydraulic skills and knowledge to spray painting and welding. I also have learnt a lot of new life skills that I can use in the future."

Have you ever wondered about having our DX Hammer mounted to an excavator? Well, look no further. Our all British designed and manufactured JX-25 Piling Rig is mounted to a low ground pressure crawler JCB JS200 excavator.

The JX can be fitted with a complete radio control system that enables you to operate the RIG outside of the cab. Whether offloading and loading RIG from a low loader, travelling over the site or operating the hammer driving Steel or Concrete piles.

Who doesn’t love the colour yellow, we certainly do! Here we have external parts for our popular DX Hammer range, sprayed in our signature yellow paint.

Did you know that our DX Hammer range can be used to drive sheet piles, small bearing piles, tubular steel piles, timber or concrete piles with ultimate load-bearing up to 1800kN, they can be operated directly from a suitable hydraulic excavator or leader rig.

Do you have an existing BSP RIC? Our RIC rig has been the focus of compacting sand and gravels for many years, but did you know that we offer our MX Drill attachment that enables you to turn your RIC into a drilling rig?

By using our RIC boom with quick hitch, we can offer a purpose-built mast, up to 14 metres long and a control system to drive an auger drill, Vibro lance or one of our own hydraulic drop hammers.
