Branch Manager

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and commercially focused Branch Manager to lead our Morecambe branch and drive operational excellence. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service, developing high-performing teams, and achieving strong commercial results.
As the Morecambe Branch Manager, you will have full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the branch, ensuring exceptional customer service, profitable growth, and compliance with company policies and industry standards. You will lead by example, fostering a positive and high-performance culture while building lasting relationships with customers and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, motivate, coach, and develop the branch team to achieve individual and business objectives.
Create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing working environment.
Recruit, train, and support employees, identifying opportunities for development. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
Sales & Business Development
Develop and implement strategies to increase sales, profitability, and market share.
Identify new business opportunities while strengthening relationships with existing customers and suppliers.
Monitor branch performance against sales targets.
Promote the company's products and services, ensuring excellent customer engagement at every opportunity.
Customer Service
Deliver an outstanding customer experience by ensuring the highest standards of service.
Build long-term relationships with customers, suppliers, and the local businesses.
Resolve customer queries and complaints promptly and professionally.
Lead by example in providing expert product knowledge and support.
Operations & Compliance
Oversee the day-to-day running of the branch, including sales, engineers, warehouse, administration, and trade counter operations.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, health and safety legislation, and relevant industry regulations, including ISO standards where applicable.
Maintain effective stock control, inventory accuracy, and efficient operational processes.
Ensure the branch operates safely, efficiently, and professionally at all times.
Financial & Commercial Performance
Take ownership of the branch's profit and loss performance.
Monitor budgets, control operating costs, and maximise profitability.
Produce regular management reports and analyse branch performance to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Drive operational efficiencies while maintaining excellent service standards.
About You
We're looking for an ambitious leader who combines strong commercial awareness with excellent people management skills.
You will ideally have:
Previous management experience within an engineering or builders' merchant, plumbing, electrical, DIY, industrial, or trade distribution environment.
A proven track record of achieving sales growth and delivering strong financial performance.
Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
Outstanding customer service and relationship-building abilities.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify business opportunities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
A proactive, results-driven approach with high levels of self-motivation.
Good IT and administrative skills.
A full, clean UK driving licence.
Knowledge of the local business would be advantageous.
