Introduced in 1973, the Porsche 2.8 RSR emerged as a symbol of precision engineering and racing prowess. With its distinctive wide-body design, centrally-located oil cooler, and ultra-wide Fuchs wheels, it set a new standard for performance on the track.
What truly sets the 2.8 RSR apart from its predecessors is its meticulous engineering, evident in every aspect of its design and performance. Porsche engineers left no stone unturned in transforming the RSR into a racing powerhouse.
The conversion process was not merely cosmetic; it was a feat of engineering excellence. The car's wider stance, achieved through meticulously flared arches and lowered suspension, accommodates the imposing 11-inch rear and 9-inch front wheels. Brakes, derived from 917 components, boast axially and radially drilled discs and finned four-piston calipers, ensuring optimal stopping power.
Weight reduction was a paramount consideration, resulting in a remarkable 80 kilograms shaved off from the already lightweight RS Lightweight. Strengthening the RSR's chassis in key areas at the rear ensured it could withstand the rigours of high-speed racing.
Inside, every component was scrutinised for weight-saving opportunities. The minimalist interior features a bare metal floor, minimal felt trim, all framed by a lightweight roll cage. Notable features include a leather cord for door opening and a 10,000 rpm rev counter—a testament to the car's racing pedigree.
Today, EB Motorsport proudly continues the legacy of the 2.8 RSR, meticulously restoring and enhancing these iconic machines for a new generation of enthusiasts. Each project that emerges from our workshop embodies the spirit of Porsche's racing heritage—a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and our dedication to preserving the storied history of
