Latest job, repairs, alterations and improvements to a rotary drum @ a leading manufacturer in the Netherlands ๐ณ๐ฑ
Both tyres were originally interference fit tyres to a stainless steel shell, fitted using induction heat expanding methods, due to years of good work, wear has set in and caused the tyres to creep excessively, thus increasing said wear, although tyres remain in relatively good condition.
We removed the thrust retaining rings on one side of the tyres, prepared the shell, got in the guys from Cooper Heat to heat the tyres with induction heating methods, meanwhile internally a cooling device was installed using air on the shell to reduce heat transfer, the tyres expanded about 6-8mm giving us enough Clearence to install 2mm shims in 10 locations covering 70% of the shells circumference between the tyres and shell surface.
Sufficient cooling time was allowed and now the tyres are back to an interference fit, after cooling was complete, we re-installed the stainless steel thrust retaining rings.
New support rollers complete with new bearings were installed, existing tyres ground flat and round, using exclusive specialist equipment, the drum was then fully aligned and setup to an almost neutral thrust state, achieved by the specialist Thrust monitor alignment equipment.
Another top quality repair carried out by the dream team, on time first time.
Our time in the Netherlands was great and was topped off by complete job satisfaction.
