In the fire safety industry, a 'Frankenstein' door is one made of mismatched components. We often see sites where the hinges, intumescent seals, and door leaves all come from different manufacturers.

The Knowledge: Fire doors are tested as a complete 'global' assembly. For a door to hold back fire for 30, 60, or 120 minutes, every component must react to heat in exactly the same way.
