Last week, we joined businesses from across Derbyshire at The Derbyshire Brain Game, the annual charity quiz raising money for Marie Curie UK.

We were proud to be joint sponsors this year alongside PKF Smith Cooper, at an event that holds a special place for us. It’s a fantastic evening that brings so many local businesses together for a great night of fun and fundraising.

This year’s event raised an impressive £60,000, and that money goes directly towards supporting people living with terminal illness and their families.

Congratulations to Longcliffe Quarries LTD on taking home the trophy after a close contest. Our quiz team gave it everything, but unfortunately the scoreboard didn’t agree!

Thank you to every business that sponsored, took part and donated. And a big thank you to the committee and wonderful volunteers who make the evening happen!

Last week we signed the Armed Forces Covenant at the first Derbyshire County Employer Engagement Group event.

There's a shared goal to make Derbyshire the most forces-friendly county in the UK and we're proud to be playing a part in that by supporting the Armed Forces community with career and work experience opportunities.

Meet Tim, our Graduate Automation Engineer who joined us just over a year ago. Fast forward to today, he's building AGVs from scratch for major global power tech companies.

That's impressive for year one.

Tim joined MasterMover with a Robotics Engineering degree and placements at Mercedes in Stuttgart and EFESO in Munich under his belt.

Flying solo on customer installs across Germany and the US, Tim has also taken the lead in R&D for new safety sensor technologies, become the first point of call for AGV enquiries, and ensures all of our AGVs are safety-rated to ISO 3691-4.

We don't believe in boxing people into limitations of a job description at MasterMover, we give our people room to grow - from apprenticeships and graduate schemes to long-term careers.

We can't wait to see what you bring to year two, Tim!

At Tresse Métallique Forissier, part of the International Wire Group, moving heavy trolleys was a completely manual task - leaving the team with aching shoulders and backs as well as a growing risk of long-term MSDs.

So for a company that prioritises safety, something needed to be done.

The team tried to motorise individual trolleys as a solution first, but this wasn't reliable and would be expensive to scale going forwards.

That's when we visited the site to see the challenge first-hand and specified a SmartMover SM100+ electric tug for the team - built to handle their growing fleet.

So now it's zero manual pulling, with one tug moving fifteen different trolleys up to ten times a day. And when other departments tried out the machine, a second one was quickly ordered.
