The BIM's "Small-Scale Coastal Fisheries Scheme" for 2026 is open today. Similar setup to the scheme ran last Dec, in that there is up to 80% aid towards Belitronic jigging machines.
Open specifically to the SSCF boats, which are the under 12m boats who do not tow gear. The support rate is 80%, capped at €30k aid per boat.
Items covered include jigging machines (within the selective fishing section).
This scheme has a closing date for applications of 17-Dec-26. Hopefully the BIM will process applications quicker than they did last time.

KILKEEL RNLI ANNUAL FISHING COMPETITION 2026

A total of 16 boats plus pier competitors took part in the competition on a fine evening for fishing.
