'Why we love...' The VW Type 2

The VW Type 2 or Transporter was originally designed as a utility vehicle but it became so much more.

Sought after and cherished by owners of all ages, the iconic Type 2 is a masterpiece of design simplicity that includes vans, camper vans, minibuses, executive buses, pick-up trucks, crew cabs and flatbeds, amongst others.

We love the Transporter for being such a great piece of conceptual design and for being able to transcend generational boundaries, political allegiances and economic class.

They are simple to maintain and cheap to run, they look uber-cool and will continue to put a smile on people's faces, well into the future.

Nick Major sent us this great shot of his MGB sporting a Moto-Lita 15" Mk3 flat, with holes. We always love the look of mid-brown Sapele wood against black hard anodised spokes and we think it really works well with the interior of Nick's B. It's actually incredibly difficult to achieve a top finish on these wheels as we have to hand sand the wood without nicking the spokes. On a standard polished wheel, any nicks can be polished out but this just goes to show the skill of our woodshop team! Great choice, Nick, and thanks for sharing your photo.

About as iconic as a steering wheel can get, we present the Flat Aston Martin OEM CSK steering wheel. As original suppliers to Aston Martin we are well placed to continue manufacturing Aston Martin wood rim wheels. These fit original bosses of DB2, DB3 AND DB4 models.

Please note: the boss takes back the original horn control. We do not supply the OEM horn control. To fit PCD 68.26mm.

'Why we love...' the Ford Es**rt

Six generations of this brilliant medium-sized family car gave us everything from daily drivers for working people through to 250bhp world championship winning rally cars.

With models such as the Mexico, the RS2000 and onwards to the uber-cool XR3i and RS Turbo, the Es**rt transcended its everyday family saloon image and became an iconic object of desire for many people.

For the main part, the Es**rt existed in a number of guises, from 2 and 4-door saloon, 2-door cabriolet to 3-door estate and 2-door van. Engine sizes varied from 0.9 L Crossflow I4 through to a racy Lotus-Ford Twin Cam I41.6 L and 2.0 L Pinto TL20H I4 and many more in between.

We live, sleep and dream about cars. So, perhaps it's not surprising that we also love a good car movie and hark back to a time when our favourite classic cars were just 'cars'.

We manufacture original specification Jaguar E-type wheels for Series 1, 1.5 and 2 models. This T-spoke wheel is instantly recognisable and fits onto the original OEM boss. We can also supply an OEM boss if required.

Please note series 3, E-types also require very slight modification to horn control wiring (the horn contact will need to be lengthened by 17.5mm).

'Why we love...' Aston Martin

In 1947, Aston Martin was purchased by David Brown Limited, who positioned the business within its tractor group.

In April 1950, they announced planned production of their Le Mans prototype to be called the DB2, followed by the DB2/4 in 1953, the DB2/4 MkII in 1955, the DB Mark III in 1957 and the Italian-styled 3.7 L DB4 in 1958. These models helped Aston Martin establish its racing pedigree, with the DB4 standing out and in 1963, the company launched the iconic DB5.

The DB6 was launched in 1965 and produced until 1970 with the DBS sitting alongside it from 1967 until 1972. Moto-Lita has a long history working with this wonderful marque.

We love the 50s, 60s and 70s DB Aston Martins for their film star good looks from every angle. Of course, it's hard to ignore the James Bond connection to the DB5 or the Italian Job's beautiful DB4 volante as it was unceremoniously crushed and dumped down a mountainside by a digger.

Moto-Lita supplied the original wheels for Aston Martin for many of these wonderful cars, as well as the later Virage models and we continue to make them, to this day.
