Last week we attended the Continuous Water Quality Monitoring Conference in St. Helens organised by the Sensors for Water Interest Group (SWIG). It brought together leading water companies, experts and regulators to share real‑world progress, challenges and insights shaping the future of Water Quality Monitoring.

Section-82 implementation, progress and challenges, MCERTS and CWQM Strategies were some of the key themes that were discussed, followed by a live panel discussion with an audience Q&A session.

Our teams met plenty of new clients from an array of different industries to discuss how our team of experts will be able to support them to achieve their water quality monitoring goals.

Overall, it was an insightful conference and we would like to thank everyone involved in helping organise it, our teams are looking forward to the next one!

We’re proud to share the ongoing success of our work with Job Centre colleagues through the Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP), a government initiative that helps jobseekers gain skills, experience and a clear route into employment.

Over the past month, our teams visited Job Centres across Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Bolton, Rochdale and Wigan, meeting 60 individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including veterans, former NHS and police personnel, sales and admin professionals, gardeners and those who had been unemployed for over a year. Their motivation and enthusiasm made this another great success.

From these visits, 18 candidates progressed to the next stage, with 14 joining the programme. Over the following weeks, they completed a comprehensive schedule of training, including: Pristine manual handling training, EUSR Water Hygiene Training, Street-works signing, Guarding and lighting level 1 training, supported by site visits and interviews to prepare them for their roles ahead.

Last week, we celebrated their achievements and we’re thrilled that 13 candidates completed the programme and have now secured roles with us as Leakage Technicians and Logging Technicians. Their hard work and determination, combined with the support of our partners and colleagues, mark a significant milestone as we continue to grow the SWAP Scheme initiative within our AS&I business.

We’re committed to creating opportunities, developing skills and helping people from all backgrounds build long-term, meaningful careers. Here’s to the next chapter and to empowering even more individuals through the SWAP Scheme Programme.

We’re thrilled to celebrate Abigail, who has officially passed her probation and is now a Training Officer in our Laboratories team in Bedford!

Abigail joined us through our ‘Refer a Friend’ programme, after a former colleague felt she would be a great fit. In her first few weeks, Abigail was welcomed by a supportive, fast-growing team and quickly found her stride, onboarding more than 20 new starters in her first three months.

From running Inductions and Health & Safety training to setting up new starters and supporting essential skills across our Laboratories, Abigail has already made an incredible contribution. Now she is looking forward to developing our training programme even further, delivering Manual Handling Coaching and completing her First Aid at Work certification this year.

Abigail’s advice for anyone thinking about joining us through a referral?

“Just go for it! Even if it feels scary or doesn’t feel like the right time, if someone has seen a job and thought of you, then that’s your first positive sign right there! Referrals can feel like more pressure than a normal job application, but in reality they make starting a new job that little bit less scary because there’s that one person there who you know believes in you."

We’re delighted to have you on the team Abigail!

Connection to the power grid is a vital part of offshore renewable development. take things a big step further, offering the potential for cross-boundary energy sharing.

Interconnection and Offshore Hybrid Assets (OHAs) allow for the trading and sharing of power between countries, as well as managing high demand. Connections could happen between clusters of offshore wind farms, or countries seeking greater energy security and reliability.
