We’re proud to share the ongoing success of our work with Job Centre colleagues through the Sector-Based Work Academy Programme (SWAP), a government initiative that helps jobseekers gain skills, experience and a clear route into employment.
Over the past month, our teams visited Job Centres across Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Bolton, Rochdale and Wigan, meeting 60 individuals from a wide range of backgrounds including veterans, former NHS and police personnel, sales and admin professionals, gardeners and those who had been unemployed for over a year. Their motivation and enthusiasm made this another great success.
From these visits, 18 candidates progressed to the next stage, with 14 joining the programme. Over the following weeks, they completed a comprehensive schedule of training, including: Pristine manual handling training, EUSR Water Hygiene Training, Street-works signing, Guarding and lighting level 1 training, supported by site visits and interviews to prepare them for their roles ahead.
Last week, we celebrated their achievements and we’re thrilled that 13 candidates completed the programme and have now secured roles with us as Leakage Technicians and Logging Technicians. Their hard work and determination, combined with the support of our partners and colleagues, mark a significant milestone as we continue to grow the SWAP Scheme initiative within our AS&I business.
We’re committed to creating opportunities, developing skills and helping people from all backgrounds build long-term, meaningful careers. Here’s to the next chapter and to empowering even more individuals through the SWAP Scheme Programme.
