🏌️‍♂️⛳️ A fantastic day on the fairways at our Annual Aberdeen Golf Tournament!

Set against the stunning backdrop of the North Sea, teams took to the course at Murcar Links Golf Club for an afternoon of competition and teamwork.

🏆 The Texas Scramble format brought out some excellent team performances, with congratulations going to our overall winners: Cormac Marshall, Matthew Harcus, Gary Strachan and Dylan Smart!

A big well done as well to our runners-up and all of our “Nearest the Pin” prize winners 🎯

After a day on the greens, everyone enjoyed a well-earned meal in the clubhouse. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the event such a success 👏

🚧 Delivering a first-of-its-kind offshore engineering solution for a major energy client.

When high wear was identified in the slew ring bearing of the AFT knuckle boom pedestal crane aboard the vessel, located West of Shetland, a critical challenge emerged. As the vessel’s most heavily utilised crane, it was responsible for lifts the other cranes could not reach, making its reliability essential to day-to-day operations.

With replacement unavoidable, the team faced a major obstacle. The OEM method relied on dockside access and a secondary crane, neither of which was possible offshore in one of the UKCS’s harshest environments.

Rather than accept those limitations, our engineering teams developed an entirely new offshore jacking methodology. A bespoke bolted jacking frame was designed to meet client restrictions, alongside an innovative two-point jacking system that used the boom rest as a third pivot support. Detailed structural calculations ensured the crane could move safely through the required lifting arc, while additional safeguards allowed it to be lowered and secured quickly if weather conditions changed.

Delivered at pace, the project required outstanding collaboration across engineering, fabrication, QC, hydraulics, lifting specialists, offshore teams, suppliers and support functions, all working together to meet a demanding timeline.

🏆 Most importantly, the project was completed with zero safety incidents across approximately 15,000 offshore hours. In recognition of this achievement, the client presented the team with a safety award for maintaining the highest standards throughout the project.

A fantastic example of innovation, teamwork and engineering excellence in one of the most challenging offshore environments. Well done to everyone involved.

🏉 What a season it’s been for Garioch Ladies RFC!

As we approach two years of proudly sponsoring Garioch Ladies Rugby Football Club, it is amazing to see how far the team has come💪

🔥 Garioch U16 girls lifted the Saltire Caledonia Cup Shield in March!

🌟 The Ladies 1XV delivered a huge 52–5 victory over Wigtownshire, securing their place in the 2026/27 Arnold Clark Scottish Premiership.

💪 A special congratulations to Layla Mitchell, who made her debut for Scotland U18 against Italy!

👏 Our Ladies 2XV also impressed, finishing 3rd in the Sarah Beaney Plate.

This year has been all about growth for the team. With two full squads competing every weekend, continued investment in coaching and securing a 5th consecutive season in the Premiership, Garioch Ladies continue to lead the way — proudly remaining the only club in the North of Scotland competing at this level 🌟

We’re proud to support such a dedicated and inspiring team and can’t wait to see what’s next!

This week, we were in Amsterdam at The International Offshore Crane and Lifting Conference for a fantastic couple of days of insight and industry collaboration.

A key highlight for us was hearing from our Equipment Integrity Technical Authority, Andrew Garvie, who shared expert insight into operating offshore cranes in late life and during decommissioning. An increasingly important topic as the industry focuses on safety, asset longevity and end-of-life strategy. It was fantastic to see such strong engagement and to connect with so many peers across the sector.

Beyond the sessions, the team also took the opportunity to catch up with colleagues from across the wider Altrad group over dinner, a great chance to share ideas and opportunities and strengthen relationships.

If you’d like to learn more about how Altrad Sparrows supports offshore projects through specialist lifting, inspection and maintenance expertise, feel free to get in touch with [email protected] or [email protected].

🎓 🌟 Supporting the next generation to step confidently into their future

From mock interviews to careers fairs, our UK HR team have been out in the local community over the past few months helping students take their first steps towards the world of work.

Through interview preparation sessions, careers events and business breakfasts, we’ve been sharing practical advice on what employers are really looking for, building confidence and helping students recognise the valuable skills they already have.

Rebecca Wilson, Recruitment Team Lead, said “Working alongside DYW North East, we’re proud to support the next generation of leaders, creators and innovators. Meet Chloé Gribble, our UK Business Development Coordinator, a brilliant example of a woman who challenges expectations, breaks barriers, and leads by example, as a confident and influential voice within our UK Business Development team.

Attending Northfield Academy and studying NC Level 5 Business Studies at Aberdeen College, Chloe quickly built momentum in her career. By 21, she had progressed to an Operations Coordinator role in construction and, a year later, began studying Business Management part-time with The Open University.

Becoming a mum at 24 marked a new and rewarding chapter, but it never slowed her drive. After gaining experience across commercial and subsea roles in offshore energy, she joined Altrad Sparrows as a Business Development Coordinator. Within a year, she secured company sponsorship to complete the final stage of her degree. Now at 32, she is submitting her final assignment - proof that perseverance pays off.

In her dynamic role, Chloe supports senior leadership reporting, proposal development, budgeting and pipeline tracking, represents the business at client events, and is currently leading sales engagement for our training centre. As the only woman in the UK Business Development team, she champions greater female representation and confidently encourages others to “speak up and be heard.”

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, perfectly reflects her journey. She said, “The flexibility and support I have received as a full-time working mum, alongside sponsorship for my degree, has given me the confidence to thrive. In return, I mentor apprentices, support colleagues and champion others’ success.”

Following International Women’s Day, let’s continue to celebrate women like Chloe who show that when we support, uplift and invest in each other, we all rise.

Following International Women's Day, we’re continuing to celebrate colleagues who push boundaries and lead by example.

Today, we recognise Landinha Webba, known as Landy, from our Angola team whose journey reflects resilience, growth and self-belief. Landy joined Altrad Sparrows in 2024 as a Logistics Coordinator. Today, she manages the logistics department in Angola, working closely with our Aberdeen team to support safe and efficient offshore and onshore operations. Stepping into this role challenged her to grow and helped her realise her untapped potential. In a fast paced environment where no two days are the same, she remains calm, organised and solution focused.

Embracing challenges as part of growth has strengthened her confidence and shaped how she approaches obstacles today. She is excited by the growth of the logistics industry and the opportunity to keep developing her skills while contributing to Sparrows’ success.

Landy credits her growth to strong teamwork, open communication and supportive leadership. In turn, she actively supports others by sharing knowledge, guiding colleagues and being available when needed. Her journey is a reminder that with determination, collaboration and belief in yourself, growth is always possible.

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the women in our business who are breaking barriers and building their own paths 💜

First up, we’re proud to spotlight Sarah Mackay, our Rental Workshop Coordinator in Aberdeen.

A proud mum of two, netball enthusiast and keen gardener, Sarah’s route to the workshop floor wasn’t a straight line. After leaving Bridge of Don Academy, she began her career as an Office Junior with UK Lifting Services before moving into roles with Halliburton and Baker Hughes. She ran her own childminding business for ten years before joining Altrad Sparrows in 2022.

When the Workshop Coordinator role came up, Sarah applied despite having no background in workshops. She admits in the beginning feeling daunted and nervous about being (at the time) the only woman on the floor, but her team’s support and training changed everything. Forklift and overhead crane courses, hands-on equipment training and colleagues sharing their experience helped her swap uncertainty for confidence.

Sarah said “Putting on my boiler suit, hard hat and boots and stepping out of my comfort zone was the best thing I ever did.”

Today, Sarah plays a key role in keeping our rental operations moving - proving that career paths don’t have to be linear to be successful.

Here’s to the women who dare to step forward and to the teams who back them every step of the way. 💜
