World Maritime Day: Committing to a sustainable maritime future
Each year, the International Maritime Organization - IMO celebrates World Maritime Day to raise awareness about maritime safety, environmental protection and sustainable transport. This year’s theme, “From policy to practice: promoting maritime excellence,” highlights the importance of turning commitments into concrete actions.
At Beyond the Sea, we marked this occasion by participating in a beach cleanup initiative alongside Act with Surfrider. With over 30 team members involved, we collected 320 litres of waste, including numerous plastic fragments, cigarette butts, bottle caps, food packaging and fishing-related debris.
This effort served as a reminder of our shared responsibility in preserving
marine ecosystems.
Our mission at Beyond the Sea is to support the maritime sector’s shift toward more efficient and responsible operations by harnessing wind energy. Through our three innovative kite traction solutions, we equip vessels of all sizes, from fishing boats to cargo ships and yachts, with with wind-powered propulsion. By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, we aim to lower fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions, encouraging a more responsible future for maritime transport.
World Maritime Day reminds us that protecting our oceans and advancing sustainable practices is not just a goal, it is essential. We are dedicated to innovation and collaboration in maritime transport.
