🆕 800 UV conformal coating now UL qualified
In demanding electronic environments, certifications aren't optional. That's why we put our products through rigorous qualification processes.

Our 800 UV urethane acrylate conformal coating has just reached:
✔ UL94 V0 — Flammability
✔ UL746 E — Long-term material durability

What do these certifications mean in practice?
UL94 V0 — The material is self-extinguishing. In the event of ignition, the flame is suppressed rapidly with no propagation.
→ A key safety criterion for electronic equipment.

UL746 E — Certification for the long-term durability of insulating materials.
→ Validates electrical and thermal reliability under real-world operating conditions over time.

DEWETTING
❌ Is the coating “pulling away” from certain areas? That is dewetting.

The issue: The coating locally retracts, completely exposing specific areas of the substrate.

Most common causes:
🔘 Local contamination (silicones, oils, or residues)
🔘 Excessively hydrophobic surface
🔘 Moisture in the FR4 substrate or components
🔘 Local chemical incompatibility
🔘 Environmental contamination (aerosols, handling)

Possible solutions:
✔️ Identify and eliminate contamination sources
✔️ Strengthen or replace the cleaning process
✔️ Control the production environment
✔️ Improve surface energy (plasma treatment if required)
✔️ Adjust the formulation (coating surface tension)

Dewetting can be invisible to the naked eye — until a failure occurs.

Part 2 🫧 BUBBLES
❌ Too many bubbles in your conformal coating? It’s never “just cosmetic.”

The issue:
Bubbles can directly compromise PCBA protection:
➡️ unprotected areas
➡️ increased risk of corrosion or electrical discharge

🔎 Most common causes:
• Air ingress in the application circuit (fittings, hoses, dispensing head)
• Incorrect pump settings (pulsation, cavitation)
• Product over-agitation or insufficient degassing
• Inappropriate viscosity
• Micro-contamination on the substrate causing air entrapment

Some practical solution guidelines:
✔️ Check the complete sealing of the dispensing circuit (from tank to nozzle)
✔️ Use a diaphragm pump to reduce air introduction
✔️ Degas the product if necessary
✔️ Adjust dispensing speed and pressure
✔️ Improve substrate wettability

⚠️Too many bubbles are usually a warning sign of a process issue, not a product issue.

And not all bubbles are the same.
Each coating line has its own specificities, which is why expert analysis matters.
