Gasmet is in Portland, Oregon this week for CANVAS 2026! 🌱
Our Field Product Manager Sami Ketonen and local Technical Sales Representative Alec Jones are at the event, which brings together the soil and agricultural science community. At the booth, they’re running a live chamber demo with the Gasmet GT5000 Terra, so you should definitely stop by.

The setup is simple: a plant in a 3D-printed chamber, measured by a single FTIR analyzer. GT5000 Terra tracks CO₂, N₂O, water v***r, CH₄ and NH₃ all at once, so you get the full gas picture in real time.

In this demo, the CH₄ and NH₃ fluxes stay near zero. That’s a good illustration of what FTIR offers: you don’t need to guess in advance which gas will matter. If something unexpected shows up in your system, you’ll see it.

What makes agricultural emissions data reliable?
How often should you measure? Was an N₂O peak missed because the interval was too long? How much does chamber placement change the result?

These practical questions shape the quality of agricultural greenhouse gas data. A nitrous oxide peak can occur within hours after heavy rain or fertilization. If measurements are taken only once a month, it’s easily missed, and annual emissions end up underestimated.

How do you ensure a CEMS delivers reliable data over its entire lifetime?
That’s the role of QAL2 and AST testing, where stack testers compare system readings against proven reference methods.

Strong field data is built long before the first result appears on your screen.

In the MultiSoil project in Finland, 18 preliminary FTIR measurements with GT5000 Terra revealed significant spatial variability between potential measurement locations. This helped the researchers select representative, comparable points for long-term monitoring. Soil-zone maps and field observations such as soil moisture and temperature then helped explain what was behind the measured CO₂, CH₄ and N₂O fluxes.

Gasmet GT5000 Terra wins 3rd place at the Future Forces Innovation Awards 2026 🏆 Innovation has always been the core of what we do at Gasmet, so we are proud that our portable FTIR gas analyzer received recognition at Future Forces 2026 in Prague, among 19 submitted entries.

The jury evaluated entries on innovation and originality, practical benefits, and technical maturity and deployment readiness. For us, the recognition confirms what we hear at the stand: CBRNE teams need to identify unknown airborne chemicals in real time, in the field, and trust the result.

Day 2 at Future Forces, and the GT5000 Terra has been pulling people to our stand all day.

Visitors want to see how the portable FTIR analyzer identifies airborne chemicals in real time, with results on a rugged tablet in the field. Multi-gas analysis for demanding environments is what it was built for, and can be carried in a backpack.
