Advancing performance through material innovation.
InfiniSpring has been testing spring solutions at SEAMK - Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences using SSAB Hardox® steel, with very strong results.
In this video, we demonstrate a spring made from 2 mm Hardox® 450 (ultra-high-strength wear-resistant steel). While the geometry matches our standard 3 mm spring, the higher material strength (~1350 MPa yield) enables:
✅ Reduced thickness with higher strength
✅ ~50% lower stiffness → softer spring behavior
✅ Improved low-frequency isolation performance
Both the standard and Hardox® versions are optimized for 15–25 kg load ranges, delivering excellent low-frequency noise, vibration, and shock performance, with enhanced performance achieved using ® material in demanding applications.
A key observation from testing was the excellent plastic deformation performance: even under significant stress, the spring itself did not fail. Instead, the steel rivet failed at ~2480 N, highlighting the robustness of the Hardox®-based design.
