Valjas slim belt pad on the Kahakka 25L

Want some additional comfort and padding on your Kahakka 25L belt? Use the Valjas slim belt pad! Size S-M to be exact, that’s absolutely the best choice for this trick.

Remove the buckles from the Kahakka belt, thread the webbing straps through the belt loops on the belt pad and reattach the buckles. Pay attention to getting the pad centered to the pack.

That’s it! Now you have a padded belt on your Kahakka, which also offers better comfort and stability if you want to mount pouches.

Hatka 12L - your neat little daypack

The Hatka is many things, our smallest pack, our simplest pack. It’s a compact daypack, but also a quick-attach add-on to bigger packs. Lightweight and very packable, good when you need to just stuff it somewhere waiting for use.

12 litre capacity, enough to carry your little essentials, water, snacks, rainwear etc. The external PALS webbing and webbing loops on the bottom allow you to carry extra gear attached to the outside, most easily with some elastic cordage. Simple and tight rolltop closure.

The standard shoulder straps are simple 25 mm webbing, if you’re looking to carry heavier weights you can use the padded Kahakka backpack harness. And our sitting pad offers decent back padding if needed.

Kantamus 40L backpack

The Kantamus 40L is a multi-day backpack with an internal aluminium frame for carrying heavier loads. The 40L main compartment is complemented by an 8L floating lid, PALS webbing for pouches and numerous external attachment points for additional gear, allowing you to adapt it to your particular needs.

“Kantamus” is Finnish for “a carried load”, typically something a bit heavier than you carry along. Design wise this is an all-around general-purpose backpack, suitable for various uses. The scalability and compression allow you to adapt and adjust the pack for changing situations and needs, whilst the internal aluminium frame offers rigid support and weight transfer.

Jääkäri L x Hatka 12L

Looking to breathe some new life into your venerable Jääkäri L? The Hatka gives you an additional 12 litres of capacity in a quick-detach daypack form. Add some female SR-buckles (or switch out the SR-buckles on your Jääkäri to G-hooks) and clip the Hatka to the Jääkäri side compression straps.

Don’t go packing any excessive weight in the Hatka though, as this will mess up the balance of your backpack. Lightweight yet bulky stuff such as rainwear, insulating jackets etc. are safe choices when carrying this combo over longer distances.

And when you ditch your main pack and want to go do some shorter distance/duration stuff: unclip the Hatka, pack it with what ever little stuff you need and you’re good to go. No need to haul all your junk with you all the time.

PS: if you’re feeling creative: you can also tweak things up and replace the lid of your Jääkäri L with the Hatka. This does however require some problem solving if you want to make it a “floating lid” as the Jääkäri L has ladderlock buckles attached to the neck, instead of webbing straps as our newer Kantamus packs.

Hawu 8 canoe action

The “thing” with the Hawu tent is the two-part design. The tent splits into two halves for easier transport. The split-design also offers the option you to pitch it around a tree trunk and allows for the tent halves to be pitched as separate shelter halves.

The Hawu 8 can also be pitched with a standard centre pole, as shown here. This, coupled with the option to pitch it around trees, makes the Hawu a very versatile tent. suitable for dense forests and open ground.

The Hawu tent does not use corner poles, just a centre pole (or tree trunk) and stakes, making pitching quick and easy. The corner guy lines do not require any knots, these are made from webbing with cam buckles for tension adjustment.

Made for arctic use, compatible with stoves for heating. For the Hawu you wan’t the smaller and lighter TK26 tent stove, as shown in this video.

People ask us time to time on how our gear works for fishing.

We don’t make fishing-specific gear, but some of our products work quite well for it.

If you are planning to wade, consider the Rintamus chest pack. It keeps small fishing gear close at hand and higher above the water. Add a Med organizer for leader spools, indicators, floatant and other small items. Line cutters, pliers or a Multitool pouch can be attached to the external webbing.

The Askare hip pack offers more carrying capacity and plenty of room for organization. A Med organizer works here too. It's a good option when fishing from the bank or staying in shallower water. The Valjas EX harness, coupled with suitable SR buckles or G-hooks, can also be used to turn the Askare hip pack into a chest pack.

If you are hiking with a larger backpack and doing some fishing along the way, strap the Hatka on to it and use it as a daypack once you reach the water. The Hatka can also be rolled down small and stoved away easily, when not in use. The Hatka 12L can be used for carrying fly or lure boxes, a spare reel, food and extra clothing. But it is much more handy to keep smaller items such as tippet spools in your jacket or somewhere else easy to reach.

If you are taking a rod tube on a longer trip, choose a backpack with side pockets and compression straps for securing long gear. Not every backpack has them, so check before heading out. The Kantamus backpacks are one suitable option.
