Today starts the 2016 Summer Olympic Games with the opening ceremony.

Never before, emergency service equipment has been used so much, to ensure safety and security of all the participants and spectators.
For this major international multi-sport event, safety is a great concern to everybody including athletes and tourists. That’s why, Brazil is deploying 85,000 soldiers and police officers, which represents twice the number used in the previous Olympics Games of 2012, in London. Tomorrow, will be the last stage of the Tour de France.
As you can see in the picture, Federal Signal Vama, our mother company has provided during more than 3 weeks the emergency service equipment for the police vehicles, like our Traffic Storm Lightbar, visible on the picture.
We would like to thank the Gendarmerie nationale for their work, which has ensured safety without altering the festive environment.

Here are the answers of the riddle game:

• 1803: 1st Arc lamp
Scientists had been working on an electric lamp for several years. A man named Humphry Davy created a lamp using volts from a battery, which produced light greater than one thousand candles.

• 1835: 1st light bulb
James Bowman Lindsay was the first person to introduce an electrical charge inside of a glass bulb. He proudly showed his creation to others, though it was very unreliable at the time.

• 1856: Invention of the Geissler tube
Heinrich Geissler, a glassblower by trade, created a special tube to use with electricity. It could contain an electric charge, and it would pave the way for neon and other types of lighting.

• 1910: Invention of the neon lighting
Paris continued setting the stage for the newest designs in electrical lighting. They demonstrated the first neon lighting, which was created by Georges Claude, at the Paris Motor Show.

• 1926: Invention of the fluorescent lighting
A man named Edmund Germer created a lamp for fluorescent lighting. This new type of lighting would grow in popularity.

• 1995: Creation of the LED lighting
A man named Shuji Nakamura created a new type of lighting. Using blue and white LED, or light-emitting diodes, he started a revolution of LED lighting.

If the Tour de France has grown over the years to be known as the greatest race on Earth, it is also thanks to the French police.
