⚠️ STAGE 2 - ROUTE MAP - IFRANE > MIDELT

🇬🇧 We approach a stage of high mountain and extreme beauty. All possibilities are open, we can find from muddy slopes lower down, to snow in the highest reaches.

The first part of the route crosses one of the most important cedar forests in Northern Africa. These forests are part of a well-known tourist circuit that includes lakes and forest. Here we find the gigantic Cèdre Gouraud and one of its most characteristic Inhabitants is the barbary macaque, a primate that feeds almost exclusively on cedar shoots.

Before arriving in Midelt, participants will pass through a mining area, where mainly copper was extracted. We will pass through an apocalyptic looking area with all kinds of warehouses and typical mining buildings.

It is an abandoned area, the operation, which employed up to 20,000 people was closed in 1975. A unique area.

The stage will continue south towards our goal, Midelt. A city, regional center, located in the Mouluya Valley, between the Middle Atlas and the great Atlas, on the desert route and famous for its apple crops.
