🏗️ A New Connection Over the Douro: The Ruby Line Takes Shape
We are proud to announce that our 21LC1050 cranes are now operational on one of Portugal’s most landmark infrastructure projects: the construction of the D. Antónia Ferreira Bridge, spanning Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.
Commissioned by the FCC Construcción – ACA – Convensa JV, this project is a true engineering feat where precision and height are critical. Through our distributor, Ibergru, we have deployed two 21LC1050 units with a 50t load capacity and an 80-meter reach.
📍 Project Milestones
Initial Phase (Porto): The first unit has been successfully assembled on the Porto side. To ensure safe operation and avoid interference with another crane already on-site, it has been set at an initial height under hook of 77.1m.
Expansion to Gaia: Progress continues at a steady pace, with the assembly of the second 21LC1050 crane on the Gaia side scheduled for the end of this month.
Progressive Elevation: As the bridge deck and struts advance, the cranes will operate braced to the deck, eventually reaching a staggering final height under hook of 132.1m.
Telescoping for the Porto unit will be finalized this week, bringing it to its full operational height for this initial stage.
We look forward to seeing this iconic bridge standing tall!
