Don't worry—it’s not a design flaw! It’s the “Spring Clamp Effect”, and it’s the real secret behind a flawless miter joint. 💡✨
In today's lesson, here is why that single 89º degree makes all the difference:
1️⃣ Targeted Side Pressure: When you tighten the steel strap, the ends of the nylon corner bracket touch the sides of the wood before the outer apex.
2️⃣ Automatic Clamping Action: As tension increases, the flexible nylon yields just enough to push both sides of the miter inward.
3️⃣ Seamless & Strong Closure: This prevents the joint from opening on the inside edge, ensuring maximum glue contact and a rock-solid bond.
Plus, that extra degree helps compensate for tiny natural variations in the wood or subtle saw cut deviations. 😎🔥
💡 : Working with softwoods? Use a small protective pad so the nylon edge doesn't leave an indent on the material!
