The spare part that can cause an accident on your workshop.
This year we’ve been reviewing improvements based on coming EN1493:2023 standard.
Do you know what one of the most critical parts is on a 2 post lift? The arm looking system.
That small spring-loaded gear that’s supposed to automatically engage whenever you raise a car on the lift.
Velyen’s new looking system can now withstand 150 kg of pure, direct force at the tip of a fully extended arm, that’s equivalent to you and a coworker hanging off the end of the arm trying to push it sideways.
And do you know what happens in daily operation? Grease, dust, or loss of spring tension cause the tooth to only "partially" engage. And if one arm slips, the car drops.
A simple rule: Every time you lift a vehicle, take 2 seconds. LOOK at the looking system, from routine.
If fully engaged: go ahead.
If engaged halfway or showing play: stop, clean it, adjust the spring, do a quick test with the pad, or request an inspection.

If you are in garage equipment, you know who sells a lift the exact same way they'd sell a coffee maker.

"How much is it? When does it arrive? Do you have it in red?" And that's it.

The real factor is that this lift will be working in the workshop for 15 years, if not longer.

Imagine that 7 years from now you need a spare part, and the technician who knew the machine is gone, or the manufacturer has discontinued the unit. Then you've got a problem.

We’ve been manufacturing lifts for many years; ever since Istobal taught us and walked alongside us in this business.

We have seen in last 25 years: more manufacturers and new dealers, equipment with no spare parts, "compatible with..."

First, it will be a technical issue for the manufacturer. Then, a commercial problem for the distributor. Ultimately, an operational headache for the workshop.

Interesting facts about all the sales figures for electrified vehicles that are in positive: Europe, Australia, Brazil, Korea, the UK, India, and Vietnam.

What does this mean? It means that people do have the money and are indeed buying into electrification.

It's also important to invest in aftersales service now that the wind is blowing in favor and attract customers for electrified vehicles.

It's a good time to invest in after-sales service and create an EV after-sales culture.

Many are waiting for more electric cars on the road "as long as the equipment holds up."

Electrified vehicles are already entering the after-sales market: they weigh more, don't have the same support points, and the battery and its software are their main asset.

Be careful, if your technician incorrectly positions an arm on an old lift, you can damage the battery.

Si estás en posventa automoción hay una mala noticia y una buena.

Parece que el coche eléctrico pisa menos el taller, "free maintenance".

Cuando entre por la puerta un eléctrico de 3,2 toneladas para cambiarle los neumáticos, se las come más rápido por el peso y el par instantáneo, y si el mecánico ve que el brazo toca la batería, es demasiado riesgo.

 La posventa es resiliente y los talleres que se preparen van a acaparar el negocio de la próxima década: alineación, neumáticos., software & ADAS, y manipulación segura de baterías.

No necesitas tirar tu taller abajo mañana, solo necesitas actualizar equipos obsoletos y pasar algún box a los VE y furgonetas.
