🛕 From Pharaohs to Polygons: Digitizing a 4,000-Year-Old mummy with 3D Scanning
Our team at Hiway Technologies, an Artec 3D Gold Partner in Egypt, collaborated with Expedition Unknown and Discovery Channel to scan Egypt’s oldest known pharaoh using Artec Leo and Space Spider scanners at Saqqara’s Imhotep Museum.
With high-precision 3D scanning, we captured every detail—resin traces, teeth, and the unique features of this 4,000-year-old mummy—bringing history into the digital age for research, restoration, and education.

In an episode of Expedition Unknown, the Discovery Channel team needed to create an ultra-accurate digital twin of an ancient mummy. To help with that, Hiway Technology, an Artec 3D Gold-certified partner in Egypt, expertly utilized Artec Leo and Space Spider scanners at Saqqara's Imhotep Museum متحف إيمحتب. Leo provided wireless freedom to scan every angle, while Space Spider accurately captured intricate details like teeth and resin traces, confirming the mummy as the oldest known Egyptian pharaoh ever discovered.
