At John Mast, we manufacture complete new rod rigging and inspect and service existing setups – helping you understand the condition of your rig and what it needs before the next season.

Here’s a look inside our workshop, where we handle everything from new rod production to careful inspection of rod heads, terminals and turnbuckles. The photos also show dye penetrant testing, which helps reveal surface cracks that can be difficult to spot with the naked eye.

A little update from the workshop at John Mast 🇩🇰⛵

We’re preparing an Xp33 mast for Turkey, a Swan 38 mast for Vigo in Spain, and two Cork 1720 masts for Ireland. It’s always a pleasure to see our Danish-built masts heading out to sailors around the world! 🌍

Closer to home, we’re also helping customers prepare for winter. We unstep their masts, clean and inspect the rig, and service or replace worn components before putting everything into winter storage — ready for the new sailing season in spring. 🔧

From new masts to looking after those already out sailing, it’s all part of everyday life here in Greve.

Something new is on the way! 🚛⛵

The first mast for a new yacht model is leaving our workshop, and two members of the John Mast team are heading out to install and test it together with the customer.

For now, we’re keeping the project under wraps — but we’re excited to take you behind the scenes when the time is right.

What’s happening at John Mast? ⚓️

It’s been a busy week in the workshop – and a good example of how different the jobs at John Mast can be.

From new masts and service to repairs, custom-made solutions and product development, there is always something different going through the workshop.

🔧 Mast inspections and quality control for X-Yachts

🇭🇰 Packing and preparing four Dragon masts for shipment to Hong Kong

⚙️ Repair and service of a furling forestay system

🛠️ Recreating a complete masthead for an older mast, where spare parts are no longer available. Instead of telling the customer that the part could not be sourced, we reproduced the original masthead and got the rig back in service.

📐 Deflection testing and documentation of our Dragon mast section

💡 And behind the scenes: continuous R&D, design work and 3D printing of new components and prototypes

Some jobs are new production. Some are repairs. And sometimes the solution simply doesn’t exist anymore – so we have to make it ourselves.

That combination of experience, craftsmanship and development is a big part of what we do at John Mast.

⚓ Quick service – and quickly back on the water!

We recently carried out an on-site service job on an X-Yachts Xp 44, after the yacht’s furling forestay had failed and needed immediate attention.

In close cooperation with X-Yachts, we quickly found the right solution, carried out the repair directly at the marina, and got the yacht ready to sail again with minimal downtime. ⛵️

This is exactly the kind of service we aim to provide at John Mast – fast response, strong cooperation and professional rigging support wherever it is needed.
