At The Lennox in Sydneyโs Parramatta District, this was a very real development challenge. Completed in 2021, the 149-metre residential tower comprises 46 floors and 414 luxury apartments. With limited space, high property values and sedimentary rock beneath the site, providing the required parking capacity without excessive excavation was an important consideration for the project. By using an automated parking system, the parking levels required less than 15 metres of excavation, which helped reduce excavation costs substantially.
At the same time, the solution had to meet the expectations of a premium residential development. Residents simply drop off their car at one of five transfer cabins. The Lรถdige Industries smartphone app allows residents to request their vehicle when needed, adding another level of convenience to the parking experience.
The Lennox demonstrates how automated parking can address two requirements that increasingly come together in high-value urban developments: making efficient use of constrained space while delivering a convenient user experience.
