The SMM in Hamburg was a complete success for us at Wenzel Marine. Over the course of four days, there was a lively exchange of ideas, and we made new contacts in the maritime industry. Below are a few more photos from the trade show.

Last week, we held a farewell party for Kryptos. He completed a three-month internship with us in the workshop, which has now, unfortunately, come to an end.

We wish you all the best and much success.

It was great having you with us.

In early July, we participated in the company shooting competition in Brinkum -with great success.

Thanks to outstanding shooters like Mi and Emmanuel, we took first place and brought home the grand challenge cup.

Next year, we'll aim to defend our title.

The SMM will take place again in Hamburg from September 1, 2026, to September 4, 2026. It is the world’s leading trade fair for the maritime industry.

Of course, we’ll be there again and look forward to great conversations and meeting new people from the industry.

A Journey Back to a Bygone Era:

Last week, our technicians took on a job that was out of the ordinary even for us: They were tasked with getting a MAN W3V 17.5/22 A back up and running — a three-cylinder engine from a series built between the late 1930s and early 1960s.

Order spare parts off the shelf, read the error log, or quickly check with the manufacturer? Not a chance.

This job called for experience, technical skill, and a healthy dose of creativity to bring this old gem back to life.

And sure enough: In the end, the three-cylinder engine was running again.

A fine testament to how solidly machines used to be built—and to the fact that decades of experience sometimes can’t be replaced by a laptop.

Let’s meet Emmanuel.

Emmanuel has been working with us since 1 July and is a qualified junior business analyst. He supports our sales and purchasing departments and analyses what needs to go into our warehouse and which items are fast-moving stock.

He’s from Ghana and studied in Siena, Italy, and also in Göttingen. He enjoys travelling, loves cooking and hiking.

The workshop is also very busy in the summer. New cylinder heads that have arrived are being overhauled. Here on the workbench: MAK M 20 and MAK M 32.

The SMM will be taking place in Hamburg again from 1 to 4 September 2026. It’s the leading trade fair for the maritime industry. We’re looking forward to it and hope to meet lots of lovely people again.

A new member of staff in the workshop.

Lampros joined us on 1 July. He works as a metalworker and is from Greece. He previously studied mechanical engineering at the University of Patras.
