Delivering More Charging Power Than the Grid Connection Allows 🔋⚡A microgrid implemented by energielösung GmbH demonstrates the potential of battery-buffered charging infrastructure: solutions such as the ChargePost decouple charging capacity from available grid power — enabling significantly higher charging performance than the grid connection alone would allow.

As part of a master’s thesis, the fast-charging site equipped with two conventional hyperchargers and one ChargePost from ADS-TEC Energy was analyzed over several weeks. Despite a grid connection of just 125 kW, the system reliably delivered substantially higher charging power while supporting the two other conventional DC chargers and compensating for peak loads through its integrated battery.

The economic results were equally compelling: by combining peak shaving with strategic energy procurement, operating costs can be reduced by several thousand euros per year in the analyzed scenario.

The Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), Nicola Beer, met with Thomas Speidel, CEO of ADS-TEC Energy, at the HANNOVER MESSE. She was positively surprised by the company’s in-house developments in battery storage for flexibility (e.g. the battery-buffered fast charger “ChargePost”), as well as by the long-standing experience and deep expertise of this traditional Baden-Württemberg-based company. With large-scale storage systems that have been in operation for over 10 years and more than 2,500 battery-powered charging points worldwide, ADS-TEC Energy is clearly positioned as a market leader.

As representative of the EIB, Nicola Beer was particularly impressed by the company’s 360-degree capabilities across hardware, software, services, and operations. Strong proof point: one of the largest battery power plants, with a capacity of 1 GW / 4 GWh (roughly equivalent to the output of a nuclear power plant), which ADS-TEC Energy is currently advancing together with local and European partners — to strengthen the resilience of our energy system. A strong signal from for Germany and Europe.

ChargePost spotted in Australia. 🚩Together with Elanga, we brought battery-buffered ultra-fast charging to the Penske Automotive Group dealership in Brighton, Australia, demonstrating how high-power charging can be deployed quickly even where grid capacity is limited. The ChargePost was installed in less than 24 hours and the available charging power was increased more than fivefold. Thanks to the battery-buffered system, this can be achieved without costly grid infrastructure upgrades.

For dealerships, this means dramatically faster charging and smoother operations across sales, vehicle handover, and service, while EV customers benefit from a premium charging experience directly at the dealership.

A great example of how fast, scalable, and future-ready charging infrastructure can be integrated into existing locations. We thank Elanga for the great cooperation.

Event Recap 🎙️🔋March was a busy and rewarding month for our teams across Europe and the US.

In Germany, at Flotte! Der Branchentreff, we had great conversations with fleet operators, gained valuable insights, and saw strong interest in our presentation on current industry developments and practical solutions. Additionally we’ve been at the BVES Bundesverband Energiespeicher Systeme e.V. Status Conference “FlexHub Mobiliy Transition 2026” in Berlin, presenting the different business models enabled by battery-based solutions.

In London, at the Airport Electrification UK Conference, we were presenting real-world use cases and discussing the future of sustainable airport infrastructure.

Meanwhile, our US team joined the EV Charging Summit & Expo in Las Vegas, connecting with international experts and exploring the latest trends in charging infrastructure and e-mobility.

Across all events, one thing stood out: the importance of collaboration and open exchange in driving sustainable mobility forward.

The screens on the sides of our battery-buffered charging solution are not just decoration or a gimmick. What happens if no one is charging at the site? Thanks to the screens, you can still generate revenue through advertising even when no charging session is taking place. So they’re definitely not a “nice-to-have,” but an additional source of income. 📈⚡
