A welded joint on must fulfill two functions simultaneously.

🔸 First, it must withstand extreme mechanical forces.
🔸 Second, it must transmit electrical current without loss.

The technical challenge is that welding filler materials often have significantly lower electrical conductivity than the base material. Without the right method, the weld quickly becomes a thermal and electrical bottleneck in the entire system. Our specially for large cross-sections, certified according to , compensates for the conductivity disadvantage of the filler material. This allows us to achieve maximum conductivity while maintaining full mechanical stability.

⚡ Magnetic fields in systems are invisible but extremely powerful! Without simulation, one often doesn’t know until the prototyping phase or during operation what forces and field strengths are actually at work in the operators’ work area, which can lead to unforeseen problems.



🔶 Here is a real-world example that illustrates how things look in practice:

→ The system consists of two , each rated at 100 kA, with three parallel per pole system and a pole spacing of 2 m.

→ The color coding indicates the magnetic flux density in .

→ The person in the image serves as a direct reference for the actual work area in which they are located.



🔶 What interesting physical insights can we gain from this?

→ The highest values (field peaks) occur directly at the - bars. Due to the high current density in the , the strongest magnetic fields also arise there.

→ As the distance increases, the field strength drops rapidly. Between the two poles, a zone with significantly reduced field strength forms (“cancellation effect”), since the of the two poles overlap and partially cancel each other out due to the opposite current directions.

→ Magnetic fields are not visible, but numerical simulations make their spatial distribution precisely traceable.

→ By evaluating electromagnetic fields in the working area as early as the design phase, safety can be ensured from the start, and optimizing the track layout leads to lower stress levels. Expensive prototype loops and time-consuming development efforts are drastically reduced.

⚡ Why do we blacken copper busbars?

and are highly reflective and, when left bare, have a very low emissivity. This means they can barely dissipate the heat generated by the flow of current through thermal radiation. Black paint drastically increases the emissivity, allowing heat to be dissipated into the air much more efficiently.

→ The result:

The busbar gets less hot or can carry more current at the same maximum temperature → often up to 10–15% higher current-carrying capacity compared to a bare busbar!

→ A great side effect:

The paint can increase dielectric strength, thereby preventing creepage distances and protecting against oxidation.
