Cave Lighting

Cave Lighting Beleuchtungsspezialisten aus Herborn, Hessen. Untertagebeleuchtung als auch Architekturbeleuchtung si restoring attractions, like the Fundata Cave in Romania.

Actually project ‘Cave Lighting™’ is:

a consulting business:
we have hundreds of presentations of our equipment and offer consulting for owners/managers of subterranean landmaks worldwide. about 48 equipped tourist attractions, including:
brand new unique show caves which did not suffer from human activity/damage, like our work in the Herbstlabyrinth Cave in Germany – from dev

eloping a business concept and a show cave concept to a complete equipment installation (controlled LED lighting system, FRP route paths, monitoring system). Tours to this cave have not been properly organized before and it was in a poor condition, due to vandalizm. In 2011, Romanian speleologists and our ‘Cave Lighting’ Team cleaned and restored the Fundata cave and turned it into a successful show cave. It was an all-inclusive package of work from planning to the opening of the cave. We partially or completely upgraded/ replaced outdated electrical equipment and redesigned lighting systems in some of the oldest show caves in Europe, Postojnska Jama (Slovenia), Grotte de Clamouse (France), Grotte de Han (Belgium). In some caves we designed and installed electrical power supply systems, lighting systems, music and light systems (DMX-show) and monitoring systems. These were developed according to customers’, (Prometeus) Cave (Georgia), Dechen cave (Germany), requirements. Besides modern lighting and music systems, our project specialists developed an unique software which integrates all of these systems into one network. It also allows remote controlling and if necessary, correct operation of all systems, Höllgrotten Cave (CH), Wendelstein Cave (DE), Erdmanns Cave (Germany), Belianska Cave (Slovakia), together (something similar to a ‘smart home’ system). The ‘Cave Lighting™’ project is constantly developing. We observe modern scientific achievements and cooperate with leading speleological organizations and associations (ISCA, UIS, VDHK, Karst Institute (Postojna), speleological clubs in different countries, etc.). We continue to perfect our equipment and promote our specialists’ self-development. In 2014, we realized the reconstruction of the cave in Germany that made such an unforgettable negative impression on the ‘Cave Lighting™’ creators ten years ago and started ‘Cave Lighting™’.

👓 The Expert Insight 2 👓
"Lampenflora VS Smart lighting"

💡 Lighting a cave isn’t just about choosing the right fixtures — it’s about how you use them.

For years, people believed LED lighting would stop lampenflora… but the truth is, any light can trigger it.

The real game-changer?
Smart lighting management. Control the intensity, limit the exposure time, and light only where and when it’s needed. Because in caves, it’s not the technology that makes the difference — it’s the strategy behind it.

Luray Caverns, Virginia, USA 🇺🇲

"No, Orange is not always the new black."

At Luray Caverns, the first phase of a new lighting project has just been completed, with nearly 700 fixtures newly installed.

For years, caves have been lit… but rarely truly showcased.

Bad cave lighting means:
❌ more lampenflora
❌ flattened, washed-out formations

Good lighting means:
✔ details revealed
✔ atmosphere preserved

Today, a different approach is possible.
More precise, more balanced lighting—revealing without overwhelming.

✨️ Cave Lighting brings back what formations never should have lost: their subtlety.

☝️ Because light temperature matters.

Clamouse cave, Part 2. 🇨🇵

✨️ The story continues underground — shaped by Cave Lighting technology ✨️

🤝 At Clamouse Cave, a long-term relationship with Cave Lighting has played a key role in how the underground experience is imagined and revealed. As the site moves toward a major lighting renovation planned for 2026, Cave Lighting products continue to make a meaningful difference.

Built for demanding underground environments, these lighting systems are designed for durability, performing for up to seven years even in the most sensitive areas. This reliability allows the cave to evolve beyond a museum-style approach, offering visitors a more immersive, explorer-like experience.

🏔 Formed in dolomitic limestone, Clamouse Cave reveals an exceptional diversity of crystals — shaped by explorers of the past, present, and future.
Because when lighting is designed with care, it does more than illuminate.

👓 It invites exploration.

To discover. To understand. To be amazed.
