Foundation Stone Laid for the third construction phase of Monheim Mitte
Matthias Niemeyer and Stefan Klug of PE Monheim Mitte GmbH together with Mayor Sonja Wienecke and Isabel Port, Managing Director of Baumberger Einkaufszentrum GmbH, placed the foundation stone capsule. In addition to the foundation stone certificate and a copy of the current daily newspaper, the capsule contains photographs of the former development site, the first page of the building permit and coins.
Just over a year ago, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the start of construction. Since then, work has progressed significantly and now the foundation stone has been laid. With the third construction phase the comprehensive transformation of Monheim Mitte enters its final major stage.
The third construction phase is being implemented with a budget of €133 million. It will create additional space for retail and gastronomy as well as new residential and office space. Future retail tenants include JYSK, Expert Gröblinghoff and New Yorker. The “MoBo Offices” will provide around 7.600 m² of flexible office space. In addition, 56 rental apartments are being built which will be managed by Monheimer Wohnen.
An underground car park with around 170 parking spaces and EV charging infrastructure as well as covered parking facilities for bicycles and cargo bikes will complement the development’s mobility infrastructure.
