What can LWIR Lenses from computar do in automotive applications?

computar LWIR (Long Wave Infrared) lenses are used for automotive applications because they are effective in detecting heat signatures, which can help in various applications such as night vision, collision avoidance, and pedestrian detection.

In particular, LWIR lenses can detect thermal radiation emitted by objects, including people and animals, even in complete darkness or adverse weather conditions such as fog, rain, and snow. This ability can be crucial for automotive safety features, such as detecting pedestrians or animals crossing the road or identifying potential hazards ahead.

Moreover, computar LWIR lenses are also effective in detecting heat signatures of vehicle components such as brakes, engines, and tires, which can help in diagnosing potential mechanical problems before they become serious safety hazards.

Overall, LWIR lenses offer a reliable and effective solution for enhancing automotive safety and performance, which is why they are increasingly used in modern automotive applications.

The computar MPW3 series features speak for themself. But also the advantages of the 2/3" format, namely:

Depth of Field: The smaller sensor size of 2/3" cameras means that they have a greater depth of field compared to larger sensors. This can be advantageous in certain situations where you want to keep more of the image in focus.

Cost: 2/3" lenses are generally less expensive than lenses designed for larger sensors, making them a more budget-friendly option.

Compact Size: Because 2/3" lenses are designed for smaller sensors, they are also generally smaller and more compact than lenses designed for larger sensors. This can make them easier to carry and use in certain situations.

Suitable for 2/3" 6MP sensors, e.g. IMX250/IMX178, the MPW3 series is a compact alrounder for various applications:
