🎄 As the year draws to a close, the Christmas spirit also found its way to Otto Wulf.

While the last operations of the year are being successfully wrapped up, planning for 2026 is already well underway. As the festive season begins, we take a moment to reflect, and recharge — looking forward to spending quality time with family and friends.

This is also a time to look back on a year full of movement, momentum, and milestones. 💭

In 2025, we once again stood strong in the offshore wind industry, with continued deployments and new projects ahead. Our strengthened fleet has allowed us to operate reliably — from the Port of Cuxhaven across the waters of Northern Europe and in the Middle East. 🚢🌍

We’re particularly proud of our team: our crew at sea and colleagues ashore, who face every challenge with professionalism, courage, and a commitment to maritime excellence. At Otto Wulf, tug shipping isn’t just a service — it’s our passion. ⚓

With our guiding principle of delivering dependable service while staying open to innovation, we look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead — continuing to grow alongside our customers and partners. 🚀

From all of us at Otto Wulf:
Thank you for a exciting year – we wish all our employees, partners, clients, and maritime enthusiasts a joyful christmas and holiday season!

🚧 Progress at the new berth construction LP 5–7 in Cuxhaven! ⚓️

The construction of the new berths LP 5 to 7 in Cuxhaven is progressing steadily. In our home port, we are proud to support the ARGE Cuxhaven Neubau LP 5–7 with our fleet. This expansion highlights the growing strategic importance of the German Offshore Industry Center Cuxhaven — not only for the Federal Republic of Germany, but for Northern Europe as a whole. 🌍

At Otto Wulf, we have a deep-rooted commitment to the region contributing to its steady development. We move what matters. And we’re proud to do it right here – at home. 💪🌊

🚢 New Addition to Our Fleet – Welcome ELVSTROM! ⚓️

We are excited to introduce the newest member of our fleet: the buoy laying vessel ELVSTROM, formerly known as NIEUWE DIEP, which was in service for Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch government department responsible for water management and infrastructure.

The ELVSTROM will be taking over the duties from our TAIFUN, which has been part of our fleet for the past two years. During that time, TAIFUN has opened up new business areas for us – areas we now intend to strengthen through this strategic investment.

Based on the insights gained from our previous operations, the acquisition of the ELVSTROM marks a logical step towards providing our clients with even more efficient and capable services.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dick van der Kamp for the trustful collaboration and his support throughout the purchase process. 🙏

With the ELVSTROM, we continue to chart our course: future-ready, service-driven, and fully committed – at sea and ashore.

It was with great pleasure that we attended the christening and launch of the new RoRo ferry SEAROAD I at Flensburger Shipyard GmbH (FSG). We wish the new vessel and her crew fair winds and following seas, and may she always have a hand’s breadth of water beneath her keel. We also extend our best wishes to the new owners, SeaRoad, for every success with their new SEAROAD I.

This milestone not only marks the revival of FSG under its new ownership by the Heinrich Rönner Gruppe but also continues the decades-long collaboration between FSG and Otto Wulf. It was wonderful to meet many cheerful colleagues from FSG during the two days at the shipyard.

As in the past, we successfully carried out the lifting of the superstructures together with FSG. We look forward to the future and to further joint projects with FSG.

BALTIC POWER

Another project is nearing completion, and we continue to play an active role in the offshore wind market. Following the He DREIHT project last year and the start of the BALTIC POWER project in October of the same year, the final monopiles are now being transported over the coming weeks. This time, the 1,300-ton monopiles manufactured by STEELWIND in Nordenham are being shipped to the Baltic Sea, to the island of Bornholm. From there, at the Port of Rønne, the offshore wind farm BALTIC POWER is being constructed in Polish waters.

Our tugs WULF 10 and WULF 2 were deployed to tow a barge and mobilised a second barge which was integrated into the rotation. WULF 10 joined the BALTIC POWER project this year after her integration into our fleet. Once again, we were able to minimise challenges for our clients and provide customer-oriented solutions.

We would like to thank our colleagues on board and ashore, as well as our client Van Oord and ROYAL Wagenborg, for their excellent cooperation.

The CAP SAN DIEGO is the last surviving vessel of a series of six general cargo ships built in 1961/62 for the shipping company Hamburg Süd. These ships operated on the route between Hamburg and South America. On board the world’s largest operational museum ship, visitors can still experience the essence of traditional seafaring.

Since many years, the CAP SAN DIEGO has called at Cuxhaven several times a year. Each arrival and departure requires the support of two assisting tugs, which we are proud to provide. Over the years, various tugs from our fleet have had the honour of assisting this iconic vessel.

A truly picturesque scene for any maritime enthusiast or nostalgic seafarer: the arrival and departure maneuvers of the CAP SAN DIEGO on the River Elbe in front of Cuxhaven!

Exciting News
Together with our ARGE partner Pegasus Shipping GmbH, Co. KG (Harren Group) , Otto Wulf GmbH & Co. KG will soon be managing a new special-purpose vessel for the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The planning, construction and ship management of the vessel were tendered by the Central Command for Maritime Emergencies (Havariekommando). The newbuild – a Multi Cat 2309 from the Dutch shipyard DAMEN Shipyards (Damen) – is scheduled to enter service in early 2026.

What makes this project particularly noteworthy is not only that the vessel will be available to the Havariekommando for potential oil spill response in the Baltic Sea region, but also that the ARGE will be able to operate the Multi Cat 2309 for commercial purposes. The vessel will be stationed in the port of Sassnitz on the island of Rügen, directly at the Baltic Sea. It is close to the wind parks ARCADIS OST 1, BALTIC 1 BALTIC 2, BALTIC EAGLE, WIKINGER, WIKINGER SÜD and ARKONA.

With powerful deck equipment including a deck crane, winches, towing hook, shark jaws, a mobile A-frame, and a moon pool, the vessel is ideally equipped to offer a wide range of maritime services. This highly versatile workboat will be available in the Mecklenburg Baltic Sea area for missions such as towing, salvage, dredging, material transport, research, survey operations and more.

Both the crew and the vessel – like the rest of our fleet – will be true all-rounders, providing reliable, hands-on solutions for our clients.

Our tug WULF 7 is back in the English Channel for her next project, assisting the cable layer vessel CS SOVEREIGN. WULF 7 and English waters always seem to fit—sunshine and seafarer romance included. This is not the first charter for our tug in English waters; she operates there almost regularly. We wish our crew and our client lots of success and a safe return after completing the project. See you soon!

On Tuesday, March 4, in the afternoon, people along the Cuxhaven shore and harbour witnessed an impressive spectacle. The 292-meter-long bulk carrier CIC ROLACO, which was unable to manoeuvre due to engine failure, was safely towed into the harbour by our tugboats WULF 9 & WULF 10 and the assisting tug EN AVANT 30.

The tow convoy, which reached its berth at Steubenhöft from the Outer Elbe anchorage with the tidal current, was towed by our two tugs with a combined bollard pull of 154 tons. At the stern of the bulk carrier, the powerful assisting tug EN AVANT 30 supported the tow. During the berthing manoeuvre, our tug WULF 5 provided additional support.

Numerous onlookers gathered along the shoreline and harbour to watch the impressive manoeuvre.

A special thank you goes to all parties involved – our crew, who showed how easily such big vessels can be towed, United Shipping Agency Vogemann GmbH , NPorts , and the assisting tug from Muller Dordrecht —for their excellent cooperation in ensuring the safe transfer of the vessel to Cuxhaven.
