We’ve reached a major milestone in automated vehicle painting: our 20,000th painting robot has been delivered, and it’s one of the first robots from our new 𝗘𝗰𝗼RP4 generation. 🎉

Now operating in a new primer station for the Kuga at Ford’s plant in Valencia, Spain, the anniversary robot uses the proven 𝗘𝗰𝗼Bell4 rotary atomizer for precise and efficient paint application. The new 𝗘𝗰𝗼RP4 generation is designed to simplify maintenance, increase flexibility, and reduce lifecycle costs.

At IPI 2026, our colleague Hans-Georg Fritz will take the stage together with partners from Axalta and Xaar to present their joint approach to digital automotive printing.

In their keynote, “The Future of Car Customization: Digital Print Meets Robotic Precision,” they’ll share how digital printing, advanced coatings, and robotic application can come together to create high-resolution graphics and two-tone designs directly on complex 3D car surfaces.

The session will also look at what it takes to bring this approach into OEM production, from technical challenges and market requirements to new materials and future developments. And just as importantly, it will show why close collaboration across industries and technologies is key to making new solutions like these possible.

Armed with nothing but his trusty robot, Eco is making his way through the Wild West, where even the AGVs seem to be running wild. And judging by the look of it, Eco feels right at home in the desert.

Fortunately, our robots are usually busy with automotive production rather than taking Eco for a ride through the Wild West. 😉
