The “Japanese Sakura 2026 Britannia 1 oz Silver Coin – Cherry Blossom Edition” is a UK Royal Mint 2026 Britannia with a special sakura (cherry blossom) privy mark produced for the Japanese market. It is a British legal-tender bullion coin, not a Japanese Mint issue.

It is also sold as “白銀桜” (Silver Cherry Blossom), “Sakura Privy,” or “Cherry Blossom Privy” Britannia.

• Year: 2026
• Metal: 1 troy oz (31.1 g) of .999 fine silver
• Face value: £2
• Diameter: 38.61 mm
• Finish: Brilliant Uncirculated (bullion)
• Obverse: King Charles III by Martin Jennings
• Reverse: Classic Philip Nathan Britannia standing in the wind with trident and Union Flag shield.

The special feature is an extra circular cherry-blossom privy on the reverse (near Britannia’s feet / the waterline), in addition to the standard trident-style security mark. That sakura mark is the Japan-exclusive element.

⚔️ THE THIRD CRUSADE & RICHARD THE LIONHEART 🦁

When Jerusalem fell to the great Ayyubid Sultan Saladin in 1187, Europe was shocked. In response, the Third Crusade (1189–1192) was launched to try to retake the Holy City.

One of its most famous leaders was Richard I of England - Richard the Lionheart. A formidable warrior and military commander, Richard travelled to the Holy Land and fought Saladin in a series of battles, including the famous Battle of Arsuf in 1191.

Richard never succeeded in recapturing Jerusalem, but his victories secured much of the Crusader-held territory along the coast. In 1192, Richard and Saladin agreed a peace treaty: Jerusalem would remain under Islamic control, but Christian pilgrims were granted access to the Holy City.

Richard then began the long journey home - a journey that would eventually see him captured and held for ransom.

⚔️ A king, a crusader, a warrior… and now a story preserved in silver.
